###### Psalms 64:2

שְׁמַע־אֱלֹהִ֣ים קוֹלִ֣י בְשִׂיחִ֑י מִפַּ֥חַד א֝וֹיֵ֗ב תִּצֹּ֥ר חַיָּֽי׃

Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

[David (having received a prophetic vision) prays that Daniel (his descendant [viz. Isaiah 39:7]) be rescued from the lion's den] Hear, O G d, my voice in my plaint. Guard my life from fright of the foe [(the satraps [viz. Daniel 6:5])].

תַּ֭סְתִּירֵנִי מִסּ֣וֹד מְרֵעִ֑ים מֵ֝רִגְשַׁ֗ת פֹּ֣עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃

Hide me from the secret council of the wicked; from the tumult of the workers of iniquity:

Conceal me from the counsel of the wicked, from the gathering of workers of iniquity [viz. Daniel 6:7],

אֲשֶׁ֤ר שָׁנְנ֣וּ כַחֶ֣רֶב לְשׁוֹנָ֑ם דָּרְכ֥וּ חִ֝צָּ֗ם דָּבָ֥ר מָֽר׃

who have whetted their tongue like a sword, aimed their arrows of bitter words:

who have sharpened their tongue as a sword, who have readied their arrow [i.e., slander] for a bitter thing.

לִירֹ֣ת בַּמִּסְתָּרִ֣ים תָּ֑ם פִּתְאֹ֥ם יֹ֝רֻ֗הוּ וְלֹ֣א יִירָֽאוּ׃

to shoot the innocent man in secret; suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

To shoot the innocent one in hiddenness. They shoot suddenly and do not fear.

יְחַזְּקוּ־לָ֨מוֹ**׀** דָּ֘בָ֤ר רָ֗ע יְֽ֭סַפְּרוּ לִטְמ֣וֹן מוֹקְשִׁ֑ים אָ֝מְר֗וּ מִ֣י יִרְאֶה־לָּֽמוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
They encourage one another in an evil matter: they speak of laying snares secretly; they say, Who shall see them?

They strengthen the evil among themselves. They speak [(hidden things to the king)] to lay snares [for Daniel], saying: Who will see them? [viz. Daniel 6:8].


###### Psalms 64:7

יַ֥חְפְּֽשׂוּ־עוֹלֹ֗ת תַּ֭מְנוּ חֵ֣פֶשׂ מְחֻפָּ֑שׂ וְקֶ֥רֶב אִ֝֗ישׁ וְלֵ֣ב עָמֹֽק׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: for the inward thought of man, and the heart, is deep.

They seek pretexts, hiding [in their hearts] their search [(for pretexts)], and their innermost [thoughts], and [(what transpires in)] the depth of their hearts.


###### Psalms 64:8

וַיֹּרֵ֗ם אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים חֵ֥ץ פִּתְא֑וֹם הָ֝י֗וּ מַכּוֹתָֽם׃

But God shoots his arrow at them: suddenly their wounds are on them.

And G d cast them [into the lion's den (viz. Daniel 6:25)]. A sudden arrow was their smiting.

וַיַּכְשִׁיל֣וּהוּ עָלֵ֣ימוֹ לְשׁוֹנָ֑ם יִ֝תְנֹדְד֗וּ כׇּל־רֹ֥אֵה בָֽם׃

So they make their own tongue a stumbling to themselves; all that see them shake the head.

[What they hoped] would make him stumble, their tongues [turned over] upon themselves. All who saw nodded [their heads] at them [in mockery].


###### Psalms 64:10

וַיִּֽירְא֗וּ כׇּל־אָ֫דָ֥ם וַ֭יַּגִּידוּ פֹּ֥עַל אֱלֹהִ֗ים וּֽמַעֲשֵׂ֥הוּ הִשְׂכִּֽילוּ׃

And all men are afraid, and they declare the work of God; for they wisely consider of his doing.

And all men feared, and related the act of G d, and gave mind to their deeds.


###### Psalms 64:11

יִשְׂמַ֬ח צַדִּ֣יק בַּ֭יהֹוָה וְחָ֣סָה ב֑וֹ וְ֝יִתְהַלְל֗וּ כׇּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃{פ}

The just man shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

The righteous one [Daniel] will rejoice in the [salvation of] the L rd, and he will take shelter in Him. And all the just of heart will glory [in their righteousness, knowing that the L rd will save them].
