###### Psalms 77:1

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ עַֽל־[יְדוּת֗וּן] (ידיתון) לְאָסָ֥ף מִזְמֽוֹר׃

For the conductor, on yeduthun [(the decrees that come upon Israel)] of Asaf, a psalm.


###### Psalms 77:2

קוֹלִ֣י אֶל־אֱלֹהִ֣ים וְאֶצְעָ֑קָה קוֹלִ֥י אֶל־אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים וְהַאֲזִ֥ין אֵלָֽי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
To God I will cry aloud: aloud to God. O, hear me!

[I shall lift] my voice to G d, and I shall cry out. [When I lift] my voice to G d, He shall pay heed to me.


###### Psalms 77:3

בְּי֥וֹם צָרָתִי֮ אֲדֹנָ֢י דָּ֫רָ֥שְׁתִּי יָדִ֤י**׀** לַ֣יְלָה נִ֭גְּרָה וְלֹ֣א תָפ֑וּג מֵאֲנָ֖ה הִנָּחֵ֣ם נַפְשִֽׁי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my hand is stretched out in the night, and rests not: my soul refuses to be comforted.

On the day of my travail, I sought the L rd. My hand [i.e., my wound] oozes [putrefaction] all the night [of exile] and does not abate. My soul refuses consolation.


###### Psalms 77:4

אֶזְכְּרָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֣ים וְאֶהֱמָ֑יָה אָשִׂ֓יחָה**׀** וְתִתְעַטֵּ֖ף רוּחִ֣י סֶֽלָה׃

I remember God, and moan: I meditate, and my spirit faints. (Sela.)

I think upon G d [(upon His lovingkindnesses to me when I was in favor with Him)], and I make moan. I speak [(of those lovingkindnesses)], and my spirit faints forever.

אָ֭חַזְתָּ שְׁמֻר֣וֹת עֵינָ֑י נִ֝פְעַ֗מְתִּי וְלֹ֣א אֲדַבֵּֽר׃

Thou holdest fast my eyelids: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

You have held fast the watches of my eyes [(in this deep sleep of exile)]. I shudder and cannot speak.

חִשַּׁ֣בְתִּי יָמִ֣ים מִקֶּ֑דֶם שְׁ֝נ֗וֹת עוֹלָמִֽים׃

I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

I think of the days of yore [(of Your lovingkindnesses to our forefathers)], of the years gone by.

אֶ֥זְכְּרָ֥ה נְגִינָתִ֗י בַּ֫לָּ֥יְלָה עִם־לְבָבִ֥י אָשִׂ֑יחָה וַיְחַפֵּ֥שׂ רוּחִֽי׃

I call to remembrance my song in the night: I meditate with my heart: and my spirit makes diligent search.

I remember my [Temple] songs at night [i.e., in this night of exile]. I commune with my heart, and my spirit seeks [to understand G d's ways]:

הַֽ֭לְעוֹלָמִים יִזְנַ֥ח׀אֲדֹנָ֑י וְלֹא־יֹסִ֖יף לִרְצ֣וֹת עֽוֹד׃

Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

Will the L rd forsake [me] forever and never again be conciliated?


###### Psalms 77:9

הֶאָפֵ֣ס לָנֶ֣צַח חַסְדּ֑וֹ גָּ֥מַר אֹ֝֗מֶר לְדֹ֣ר וָדֹֽר׃

Is his steadfast love clean gone forever? does his promise fail for evermore?

Is His lovingkindness ended forever? Has He irrevocably decreed [not to turn from His wrath] for all time?

הֲשָׁכַ֣ח חַנּ֣וֹת אֵ֑ל אִם־קָפַ֥ץ בְּ֝אַ֗ף רַחֲמָ֥יו סֶֽלָה׃

Has God forgotten to be gracious? has he in anger shut up his tender mercies? (Sela.)

Has G d forgotten to be gracious? Has He closed off, in anger, His mercies forever?


###### Psalms 77:11

וָ֭אֹמַר חַלּ֣וֹתִי הִ֑יא שְׁ֝נ֗וֹת יְמִ֣ין עֶלְיֽוֹן׃

And I said, I am sick at heart, for the right hand of the most High has changed.

And I said: It is to frighten me [(into returning to Him)] that the right hand of the Almighty has changed [(from smiting the foe to turning back from doing so)].

(אזכיר) [אֶזְכּ֥וֹר] מַעַלְלֵי־יָ֑הּ כִּֽי־אֶזְכְּרָ֖ה מִקֶּ֣דֶם פִּלְאֶֽךָ׃

I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember Thy wonders of old.

וְהָגִ֥יתִי בְכׇל־פׇּעֳלֶ֑ךָ וּֽבַעֲלִ֖ילוֹתֶ֣יךָ אָשִֽׂיחָה׃

I will meditate also on all Thy work, and muse on Thy doings.

I bring to mind all of Your deeds [(that You have performed for us until now)], and I hold converse in Your acts.

אֱ֭לֹהִים בַּקֹּ֣דֶשׁ דַּרְכֶּ֑ךָ מִי־אֵ֥ל גָּ֝ד֗וֹל כֵּאלֹהִֽים׃

Thy way, O God, is in holiness: who is so great a God as our God?

O G d, Your way is in holiness [i.e., to sanctify Your name in the world by exacting punishment of the wicked]. Who is a great god as G d [is]?


###### Psalms 77:15

אַתָּ֣ה הָ֭אֵל עֹ֣שֵׂה פֶ֑לֶא הוֹדַ֖עְתָּ בָעַמִּ֣ים עֻזֶּֽךָ׃

Thou art the God That doest wonders: Thou hast declared Thy strength among the people.

You are the G d who works wonders. You have made known Your might among the peoples.

גָּאַ֣לְתָּ בִּזְר֣וֹעַ עַמֶּ֑ךָ בְּנֵֽי־יַעֲקֹ֖ב וְיוֹסֵ֣ף סֶֽלָה׃

Thou hast with Thy arm redeemed Thy people, the sons of Ya῾aqov and Yosef. (Sela.)

רָ֘א֤וּךָ מַּ֨יִם**׀** אֱֽלֹהִ֗ים רָא֣וּךָ מַּ֣יִם יָחִ֑ילוּ אַ֝֗ף יִרְגְּז֥וּ תְהֹמֽוֹת׃

The waters saw Thee, O God, the waters saw Thee: they were afraid: the depths also trembled.

The waters [(of the Red Sea)] saw You, O G d. The waters saw You [and] they trembled. The depths, too, trembled.


###### Psalms 77:18

זֹ֤רְמוּ מַ֨יִם**׀** עָב֗וֹת ק֭וֹל נָתְנ֣וּ שְׁחָקִ֑ים אַף־חֲ֝צָצֶ֗יךָ יִתְהַלָּֽכוּ׃

The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: Thy arrows also went abroad.

They [the heavens] poured forth thick waters. The heavens reverberated in sound [(thunder)]; Your arrows [i.e., lightnings], too, went forth.


###### Psalms 77:19

ק֤וֹל רַעַמְךָ֨**׀** בַּגַּלְגַּ֗ל הֵאִ֣ירוּ בְרָקִ֣ים תֵּבֵ֑ל רָגְזָ֖ה וַתִּרְעַ֣שׁ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The voice of Thy thunder was in the whirlwind: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.

The voice of Your thunder was like a [rolling] wheel [(on the sea to confound the camp of Egypt)]; lightning lit up the world; the earth shook and trembled.


###### Psalms 77:20

בַּיָּ֤ם דַּרְכֶּ֗ךָ (ושביליך) [וּֽ֭שְׁבִילְךָ] בְּמַ֣יִם רַבִּ֑ים וְ֝עִקְּבוֹתֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א נֹדָֽעוּ׃

Thy way was in the sea, and Thy path in the great waters, and Thy footsteps were not known.

[You made] Your way in the sea, and Your path in many waters, and Your footsteps were not seen [(the waters immediately returning upon the Egyptians)].


###### Psalms 77:21

נָחִ֣יתָ כַצֹּ֣אן עַמֶּ֑ךָ בְּֽיַד־מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְאַהֲרֹֽן׃{פ}

Thou didst lead Thy people like a flock by the hand of Moshe and Aharon.
