###### Psalms 84:1

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ עַֽל־הַגִּתִּ֑ית לִבְנֵי־קֹ֥רַח מִזְמֽוֹר׃

מַה־יְּדִיד֥וֹת מִשְׁכְּנוֹתֶ֗יךָ יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

How lovely are Thy dwelling places, O Lord of hosts!

###### Psalms 84:3

נִכְסְפָ֬ה וְגַם־כָּלְתָ֨ה**׀** נַפְשִׁי֮ לְחַצְר֢וֹת יְ֫הֹוָ֥ה לִבִּ֥י וּבְשָׂרִ֑י יְ֝רַנְּנ֗וּ אֶ֣ל אֵֽל־חָֽי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
My soul longs, indeed, it faints for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

My soul desires and longs for the [(destroyed)] courts of the L rd. My heart and flesh sing [i.e., pray for their restoration] to the living G d.


###### Psalms 84:4

גַּם־צִפּ֨וֹר מָ֪צְאָה בַ֡יִת וּדְר֤וֹר**׀** קֵ֥ן לָהּ֮ אֲשֶׁר־שָׁ֢תָה אֶפְרֹ֫חֶ֥יהָ אֶֽת־מִ֭זְבְּחוֹתֶיךָ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת מַ֝לְכִּ֗י וֵאלֹהָֽי׃

Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young. Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God –

Even a bird found a home [there in the ruins], and a swallow, a nest for itself, placing her fledglings upon Your altars, O L rd of hosts, my King and my G d.


###### Psalms 84:5

אַ֭שְׁרֵי יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י בֵיתֶ֑ךָ ע֝֗וֹד יְֽהַלְל֥וּךָ סֶּֽלָה׃

happy are they who dwell in Thy house: they are ever praising thee. (Sela.)

Happy those who [will yet] dwell in Your house [and] who will praise You again, forever.


###### Psalms 84:6

אַשְׁרֵ֣י אָ֭דָם עֽוֹז־ל֥וֹ בָ֑ךְ מְ֝סִלּ֗וֹת בִּלְבָבָֽם׃

Happy is the man whose strength is in Thee; in whose heart are Thy highways,

Happy the man whose strength is in You, who [contemplates the straightening of his] ways in his heart.


###### Psalms 84:7

עֹבְרֵ֤י**׀** בְּעֵ֣מֶק הַ֭בָּכָא מַעְיָ֣ן יְשִׁית֑וּהוּ גַּם־בְּ֝רָכ֗וֹת יַעְטֶ֥ה מוֹרֶֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
who, passing through the valley of Bakha, turn in into a waterspring; moreover, the early rain covers it with blessings.

The transgressors in the vale of tears [(Gehinnom)] will make it a pool [with their weeping], while covering the "Teacher" with blessings [(saying: "Righteously did He judge us and righteous is His judgment!")]


###### Psalms 84:8

יֵ֭לְכוּ מֵחַ֣יִל אֶל־חָ֑יִל יֵרָאֶ֖ה אֶל־אֱלֹהִ֣ים בְּצִיּֽוֹן׃

They go from strength to strength, every one of them appears before God in Żiyyon.

**The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
They [("who dwell in Your house, etc.")] will go from strength to strength [(from the study hall to the house of prayer) and] they will appear before G d in Zion.


###### Psalms 84:9

יְ֘הֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִ֣ים צְ֭בָאוֹת שִׁמְעָ֣ה תְפִלָּתִ֑י הַאֲזִ֨ינָה אֱלֹהֵ֖י יַעֲקֹ֣ב סֶֽלָה׃

O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Ya῾aqov. (Sela.)

O L rd, G d of hosts, hearken to my prayer [(to rebuild Your Temple)]; listen, G d of Jacob, forever.


###### Psalms 84:10

מָ֭גִנֵּנוּ רְאֵ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֑ים וְ֝הַבֵּ֗ט פְּנֵ֣י מְשִׁיחֶֽךָ׃

Behold, O God, our shield, and look upon the face of Thy anointed.

Our shield [i.e., the Temple], see [and remember], O G d, and regard the countenance of Your anointed one [(David, i.e., give heart to his efforts towards the building of the Temple)].


###### Psalms 84:11

כִּ֤י טֽוֹב־י֥וֹם בַּחֲצֵרֶ֗יךָ מֵ֫אָ֥לֶף בָּחַ֗רְתִּי הִ֭סְתּוֹפֵף בְּבֵ֣ית אֱלֹהַ֑י מִ֝דּ֗וּר בְּאׇהֳלֵי־רֶֽשַׁע׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be at the threshold in the house of my God, than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

For better a day in Your courts [(and death the next day)] than [living] a thousand [years elsewhere]. I have chosen to sit on the threshold of the house of my G d rather than dwell [in luxury] in the tents of the wicked.


###### Psalms 84:12

כִּ֤י שֶׁ֨מֶשׁ**׀** וּמָגֵן֮ יְהֹוָ֢ה אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים חֵ֣ן וְ֭כָבוֹד יִתֵּ֣ן יְהֹוָ֑ה לֹ֥א יִמְנַע־ט֝֗וֹב לַֽהֹלְכִ֥ים בְּתָמִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and honour: no good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

For sun and shield is the L rd G d. The L rd will grant grace and glory. He will not withhold good from those who walk in innocence.


###### Psalms 84:13

יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֑וֹת אַֽשְׁרֵ֥י אָ֝דָ֗ם בֹּטֵ֥חַ בָּֽךְ׃{פ}

O Lord of hosts, happy is the man who trusts in Thee.
