משל דאחשורוש והמן כו' - כלומר יש ללמוד מאחשורוש שאף בדעתו היה להשמידן:

**Sefaria Community Translation:**
**The parable of Ahasuerus and Haman, etc.:** Meaning to say [that] it can be learned from Ahasuerus, that it was also his intention to destroy them.

**Sefaria Community Translation:**
**(To return them) to the right way:** As they decreed fasts upon them, for repentance - as it is written (Esther 4:3), "fasting, weeping, and wailing, and everybody lay in sackcloth and ashes."

חוץ ממקרא מגילה - ואם תאמר נר חנוכה כבר פסקו הנביאים אבל בימי מרדכי היו חגי זכריה ומלאכי:

**Except for the reading of the Megillah (Scroll of Esther):** But perhaps you will say, [also] the light of Channukah! [However,] the prophets had already ceased. Whereas in the days of Mordechai, there was Chaggai, Zechariah and Malakhi (they were still alive).

**From slavery to freedom:** With the exodus from Egypt, they recited the song at the sea.

**We were still the servants of Ahasuerus:** As they were only saved from death.
