(א) אמרו כשיהיה האדם עומד בתפלה יהיה עיניו למטה ולבו למעלה:

(ב) צריך ליזהר שיהיו עיניו סגורות בתפלה מפחד שכינה ובזוהר מאן דקאי בצלותא בעי לכותא רגלי ובעי לחפייא רישיה כמאן דיתכ קמי מלכא ובעי למכסיא ענוי בגין דלא יסתכל בשכינתא ובספרא דרב המנונא סבא אמר מאן דפקח עינוי בשעתא דצלותא או דלא מאיך עינוי בארעא אקדים עליה מלאך המות וכד תיפוק נפשיה לא יסתכל, בנהורו בשכינתא ולא ימות בנשיקה מאן דמזלזל בשכינתא הוא בההוא שעתא דאצטריך ליה הדא הוא דכתיב כי מכבדי אכבד ובוזי יקלו:

(ג) אמרו בפ׳ אין עומדין שיתפלל אדם בבית שיש בו חלונות ופרש״י כדי שיסתכל ברקיע ויכנע לבו ויכוין דעתו על דרך כי אראה שמיך וכו׳ מה אנוש כי וכו׳ וכתיב עיני לשמיא נטלית ומנדעי עלי יתיב והיינו קודם שיתחיל התפלה דהא בתפלה צריך שיהיו עיניו סגורות כדאמרן:
