יאחז צדיק דרכו יש אדם שאינו זכאי שיקבל המקום תפלתו אלא בעבור תוקף תחנונים ודמעת עיניו אשר תמיד בוכה ומתחנן אע"פ שאין בידו זכות ומעשים טובים מקבל הקב"ה תפלתו ועושה חפצו:

“Yet the righteous holdeth on his way” (Job 17:9). There is a man who is not sufficiently pure that God should accept his prayer. But because of the intensity of his supplications, the tears of his eyes¹ and his constant weeping and importunations, even though he does not merit or possess good deeds, the Holy One, blessed be He, accepts his prayer and accedes to his request.²
