**שֶׁלֹּא לֶאֱכֹל חָמֵץ בַּפֶּסַח** – שֶׁלֹּא לֶאֱכֹל חָמֵץ בַּפֶּסַח, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (שמות יג ג) וְלֹא יֵאָכֵל חָמֵץ.

**To not eat chamets (leavened grain products) on Pesach:** To not eat chamets on Pesach, as it is stated (Exodus 13:3), “no chamets shall be eaten.”

דִּינֵי הַמִּצְוָה. כְּגוֹן מָה הֵן הַדְּבָרִים שֶׁנֶּאֱסַר בָּהֶן מִשּׁוּם חָמֵץ, וְהֵן חֲמִשָּׁה מִינֵי דָּגָן, וְדִין הַלָּשׁ בְּמֵי פֵּרוֹת, וְדִין לְתִיתָה, וְתַבְשִׁיל שֶׁנִּמְצָא בּוֹ חָמֵץ, בְּחַמִּין אוֹ בְּצוֹנֵן, וְיֶתֶר פְּרָטֶיהָ מְבֹאָרִים בִּפְסָחִים (לה, א ב) (או"ח מסי' תמ"ו עד תס"ח).

The laws of the commandment — for example, which are the things that are forbidden because of chamets and they are five types of grain; the law of kneading with fruit juice; the law of soaking [grain kernels]; a cooked food within which chamets is found, while it is hot or while it is cold; and the rest of its details — are [all] elucidated in Pesachim 35 (See Tur, Orach Chaim 446-468.)

וְנוֹהֶגֶת בְּכָל מָקוֹם וּבְכָל זְמַן, בִּזְכָרִים וּנְקֵבוֹת. וְעוֹבֵר עָלֶיהָ וְאוֹכֵל כַּזַּיִת חָמֵץ בְּפֶסַח בְּמֵזִיד, חַיָּב כָּרֵת. בְּשׁוֹגֵג חַיָּב חַטָּאת קְבוּעָה.

And [it] is practiced in every place and at all times by males and females. And one who transgresses it and volitionally eats a *kazayit* of chamets on Pesach is liable for excision. [And if it is] inadvertent, he is obligated [to bring] a fixed sin-offering.
