**שֶׁלֹּא לֶאֱכֹל וְלִשְׁתּוֹת בְּיוֹם הַכִּפּוּרִים** – שֶׁלֹּא לֶאֱכֹל וְלִשְׁתּוֹת בְּיוֹם הַכִּפּוּרִים, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (ויקרא כג כט) כִּי כָל הַנֶּפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא תְעֻנֶּה בְּעֶצֶם הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה וְנִכְרְתָה. כָּל עִנְיַן מִצְוָה זוֹ כָּתַבְתִּי לְמַעְלָה בְּסֵדֶר זֶה בְּמִצְוָה שי"ג, עַיֵּן שָׁם כִּי קָרוֹב הוּא.

**To not eat and drink on Yom Kippur:** To not eat and drink on Yom Kippur, as it is stated (Leviticus 23:29), “For any soul which is not afflicted on that very day shall be excised.” And I have written all of the content of this commandment above in this Order in Commandment 313 (Sefer HaChinukh 313). See there, “for it is close.”
