**Mishna Berura Yomi:**
**Kindling a fire and heating water is permitted on Yom Tov. 4 sections:**
It is permitted to make a bonfire to warm oneself by it. Rema: Some say it is forbidden to heat a winter room on Yom Tov, since sometimes the cold is not great and it is only for the pampered, making it like a bathhouse or fumigation which are forbidden. (Beit Yosef in the name of a German responsum, and the custom is to be lenient)

**Mishna Berura Yomi:**
It is permitted to heat water on Yom Tov to wash one's hands, but not one's whole body — even if one does not wash it all at once. Rema: However, it is permitted to bathe a baby in water heated by a Jew on Yom Tov. (Mordechai ch. 3) But it is forbidden to heat water specifically for the baby's needs even through a non-Jew. (Mahara of Prague) However, when water is needed for cooking or rinsing, it is permitted to heat extra for the baby's sake. (Kol Bo) The law of the hot springs of Tiberias is the same as on Shabbat, as stated in §326. (Beit Yosef) But in water that was heated before Yom Tov it is permitted to wash one's whole body even all at once — however only outside a bathhouse, but in a bathhouse it is forbidden. Rema: Some forbid it in any case, and this is the custom. (Tur and Rosh)

**Mishna Berura Yomi:**
One may not make fumigation — meaning scattering spices over coals, whether to smell them or to fumigate a house or vessels. But if one does so in order to give a pleasant scent to fruits to improve them for eating, it is permitted even if one scatters them over a wood coal. Rema: It is forbidden to invert a perfumed cup over garments, since this creates a scent in them. (HaMagid ch. 1 and Hagahot Asheiri, end of ch. 2 of Beitzah)
