**דברים שמשנים באשה יותר מבאיש. ובו סעיף אחד:**
אין מניחין מטה של אשה ברחוב מפני הכבוד (ואין עולין בחבר עיר על האשה) (טור):

**Translation v.1:**
A woman's bier is not set down in the open street out of respect;¹ 28a. Cf. Sem(H). XII, 4. The reason is on account of propriety. *supra* § 354. (*And one does not go up with the town scholar*² top) who played a leading role in the town affairs and was maintained by the town, or b) the town council or group similar to the Roman Collegia (v. *Krauss, Synagogale Altertumer* pp. 20 ff.; Sem(H). Int. p. 46-7), or c) the local communal charity or religious organization (cf. *‘Aruk* s.v. חבר). Cf. *infra* § 403, 3. *Ta*Z explains that the meaning of הבר עיר in the present ruling is in accord with b), and that for reasons of propriety they did not proceed to the open street. *ShaK* adopts a), and explains that it was undignified for the town scholar to follow the funeral procession of a woman. *for a woman's sake*)³ — *G.* Derived from Sem(H).
