שָׁמַעְתִּי בִּשְׁמוֹ שֶׁאָמַר בְּזוֹ הַלָּשׁוֹן: "אֲנִי יוֹדֵעַ חָכְמוֹת, שֶׁאִם הָיִיתִי מַתְחִיל לְגַלּוֹת מְעַט מֵהַחָכְמוֹת שֶׁאֲנִי יוֹדֵעַ, הָיוּ יְכוֹלִים לִחְיוֹת עַל יְדֵי הַתַּעֲנוּג שֶׁל הַשָּׂגַת הַחָכְמוֹת הָאֵלּוּ לְבַד, בְּלִי שׁוּם אֲכִילָה וּשְׁתִיָּה.

I heard that the Rebbe once said: I know wisdom that cannot be revealed. If I were to reveal this wisdom, people could be nourished by the delight of comprehending it. They would no longer need to eat or drink.

וְהָיָה כָּל הָעוֹלָם בְּטֵלִים בִּכְלוֹת הַנֶּפֶשׁ לִשְׁמֹעַ חָכְמָתִי וְהָיוּ בְּנֵי אָדָם יוֹצְאִים מֵחִיּוּתָם מֵעֹצֶם הַפְלָגַת מְתִיקַת נְעִימַת עֲרִיבַת הַחָכְמוֹת שֶׁהָיִיתִי מְגַלֶּה.

The whole world would expire in desiring and seeking the sweet beauty of this wisdom.

אַךְ אֵינִי יָכוֹל לְגַלּוֹתָם לִבְנֵי אָדָם, כִּי תָּמִיד כְּשֶׁאֲנִי מַתְחִיל לְדַבֵּר עִם אֶחָד, אֲנִי חָפֵץ לִשְׁמֹעַ וּלְקַבֵּל מִמֶּנּוּ דְּבָרִים עֶלְיוֹנִים". וּמֵחֲמַת זֶה, הוּא אֵינוֹ יָכוֹל לְגַלּוֹת חָכְמָתוֹ הַגְּדוֹלָה וְהַמֻּפְלֶגֶת מְאֹד.

But I cannot reveal this wisdom to mankind. As soon as I begin to speak it, I desire to hear and receive lofty things from my listener. I then stop speaking so I can listen and receive from him (see “*His Wisdom*” #99). Therefore, I cannot reveal this unique wisdom.

וְעוֹד סִפֵּר בְּעִנְיַן עֹצֶם חָכְמָתוֹ, אַךְ לֹא זָכִיתִי לִשְׁמֹעַ זֹאת מִפִּיו הַקָּדוֹשׁ בְּעַצְמוֹ כִּי אִם מִפִּי אֲחֵרִים (וְעַיֵּן לְעֵיל בְּסוֹף סִפּוּרֵי מַעֲשִׂיּוֹת, מְבֹאָר שָׁם מַה שֶּׁשָּׁמַעְתִּי בְּעַצְמִי שֶׁאָמַר שֶׁיֵּשׁ חָכְמוֹת בְּזֶה הָעוֹלָם שֶׁיְּכוֹלִין לִחְיוֹת בָּהֶם בְּלִי שׁוּם אֲכִילָה וּשְׁתִיָּה (עַיֵּן שָׁם).

The Rebbe spoke about this great wisdom many times, but I heard about it only from others, never from the Rebbe himself. At the end of *Sipurey Ma'asiot*,²⁸⁹ pp.442-443. Cf. *Tzaddik* #238; “*His Wisdom*” #306. I write that I myself heard the Rebbe say, “There are levels of wisdom that can nourish a man without any other food or drink.”
