אָמַר: שֶׁכָּל הַתּוֹרוֹת וְהַשִּׂיחוֹת שֶׁלּוֹ אֵינָם בִּשְׁבִילֵנוּ לְחוּד. כִּי אִם "אֶת אֲשֶׁר יֶשְׁנוֹ פֹּה וַאֲשֶׁר אֵינֶנּוּ פֹּה" (דְּבָרִים כט) (וְעַיֵּן בְּרַשִׁ"י שֶׁפֵּרֵשׁ וַאֲשֶׁר אֵינֶנּוּ פֹּה, וְאַף עִם דּוֹרוֹת הָעֲתִידִים לָבוֹא, וְהָבֵן).

The Rebbe said, “My lessons are not only for you, but for ‘those who are here … and those who are not here’ (Deuteronomy 29:14).”

וְכַמָּה פְּעָמִים דִּבַּרְנוּ עִמּוֹ מֵעִנְיָן זֶה, וְרָמַז לָנוּ בִּדְבָרָיו: לְהוֹדִיעַ לַדּוֹרוֹת הַבָּאִים אֶת כָּל מַעֲשֵׂי ה' הַגָּדוֹל שֶׁעָשָׂה עִמָּנוּ.

וּפַעַם אַחַת אָמַר בְּפֵרוּשׁ: גַּם לִבְנֵיכֶם תּוֹדִיעוּ אֶת כָּל הַתּוֹרוֹת וְהַשִּׂיחוֹת הַנִּפְלָאוֹת וְהַנּוֹרָאוֹת וְהַמַּעֲשִׂיּוֹת וְכַיּוֹצֵא בָּהֶם אֲשֶׁר גִּלָּה לָנוּ, וְאָמַר אָז זֶה הַפָּסוּק בְּהִתְלַהֲבוּת גָּדוֹל כְּגַחֲלֵי אֵשׁ: "וְהוֹדַעְתָּם לְבָנֶיךָ וְלִבְנֵי בָנֶיךָ" (דְּבָרִים ד־ט).

We spoke to the Rebbe about this many times. He said that we should teach future generations about “all of God’s great deeds toward us” (ibid., 11:7). Another time, he said, “You must also teach your children all the lessons, discussions and tales that I revealed to you.” His words became like burning coals (*Avot*2:10) as he then quoted the verse, “You shall make them known to your children and to your children’s children” (Deuteronomy 4:9).

(וְאָמַר בְּזוֹ הַלָּשׁוֹן: אַיֶיערֶע קִינְדֶער זָאלְט אִיר מוֹדִיעַ זַיין וָואס דָּא הָאט זִיךְ גִּיטָאן) וְאָמַר בְּרֶתֶת וְזִיעַ בְּהִתְלַהֲבוּת נוֹרָא: "וְהוֹדַעְתָּם לְבָנֶיךָ וְלִבְנֵי בָנֶיךָ".

["*Eiyere kinder zalt ihr moidia zein vas da hat zich getan* – Your children should be told what was done here."] He then repeated himself with trembling and emotion (*Berakhot* 22a), “You shall make them known to your children and to your children’s children.”

וְאָמַר: דַּע וְהַאֲמֵן, אִם אֶפְשָׁר לְהוֹצִיא אֶחָד מִן הָרֶפֶשׁ, גַּם מִי שֶׁיִּתְאַחֵז בּוֹ – יוֹצִיאוּ אוֹתוֹ גַּם כֵּן.

He said, “If it is possible to drag a person out of a bog, then another who is holding on to him will also be pulled out with him. Know this and believe.”
