אָמַר: אֶצְלִי הָעִקָּר הוּא רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה, וְתֵכֶף כְּשֶׁחוֹלֵף וְעוֹבֵר רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה. אֲנִי מַטֶּה אָזְנִי וְשׁוֹמֵעַ אִם מַכִּין בַּכֹּתֶל לְעוֹרֵר לִסְלִיחוֹת לַשָּׁנָה הַבָּאָה.

כִּי אֵין שׁוּם זְמַן כְּלָל, כִּי כָּל הַשָּׁנָה חוֹלֵף וְעוֹבֵר כְּהֶרֶף עַיִן.
