שַׁיָּךְ לְהָא"ב הֶחָדָשׁ אוֹת ד' דַּעַת סִימָן א' הַמַּתְחִיל: דַּע כִּי לְכָל הָעוֹלָמוֹת וּלְכָל נִבְרָא יֵשׁ קוֹמָה מְיֻחֶדֶת וְכוּ', לְמָשָׁל מִין הָאַרְיֵה וְכוּ'. וְהַהֶבְדֵּלִים כֻּלָּם הֵם רְמוּזִים בִּתְמוּנַת הָאוֹתִיּוֹת וּבְצֵרוּפֵיהֶם. וְהַזּוֹכֶה לְהָבִין אֶת הַתּוֹרָה וְכוּ'.

In the second part of *Sefer HaMidot,* in the category of *Da'at* (Knowledge), it is written: “Every universe and everything created has its own particular form, … for example, the lion … and the differences between created beings are alluded to in the forms of the letters and their combinations. נִרְאֵה לִי שֶׁזֶּהוּ עִנְיַן הַשִּׂיחָה שֶׁשָּׁמַעְתִּי מִפִּיו הַקָּדוֹשׁ קֹדֶם שַׁבָּת חֲנֻכָּה תקס"ה מֵעִנְיַן הַבְּרִיּוֹת שֶׁל הָעוֹלָם, שֶׁכָּל הַתְּמוּנוֹת וְהַצּוּרוֹת שֶׁל כָּל בְּנֵי אָדָם כֻּלָּם נִכְלָלִים בְּתֵבַת אָדָם הַנֶּאֱמַר בַּתּוֹרָה "נַעֲשֶׂה אָדָם" (בְּרֵאשִׁית א־כו). כִּי בְּזוֹ הַתֵּבָה אָדָם שֶׁאָמַר הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ "נַעֲשֶׂה אָדָם" בְּתֵבָה זוֹ בְּעַצְמָהּ נִכְלָלִים כָּל מִינֵי הַתְּמוּנוֹת שֶׁל כָּל בְּנֵי אָדָם שֶׁבָּעוֹלָם.

This appears to be related to a conversation we heard from Rebbe’s holy lips before *Shabbat Chanukah* 5565/1804, regarding the creatures in the world.³⁷⁴ I, 54:3. This lesson was revealed on that same *Shabbat Chanukah*. The Rebbe said, “Every human likeness is included in the word *adam* (man) as mentioned in the Torah. God said, ‘Let us make man (*adam*) in our image’ (Genesis 1:26). As soon as He said the word *adam*, He included every human likeness in that word.

וְכֵן תֵּבַת בְּהֵמָה וְחַיָּה וְכוּ' הַנֶּאֱמָר בְּמַעֲשֵׂה בְּרֵאשִׁית, בְּזוֹ הַתֵּבָה גַּם כֵּן נִכְלָל כָּלהַתְּמוּנוֹת שֶׁל כָּל בְּהֵמָה וְחַיָּה וְכֵן שְׁאָר הַנִּבְרָאִים.

“The same is true of such words as *behemah* (animal) and *chayah* (beast) used in the account of creation. These words include the forms of every animal and beast. The same is true of everything else created.”

וְאָמַר אָז: שֶׁיֵּשׁ חָכְמוֹת אֲפִלּוּ בְּזֶה הָעוֹלָם שֶׁיְּכוֹלִין לִחְיוֹת בָּהֶם לְבַד בְּלִי שׁוּם אֲכִילָה וּשְׁתִיָּה. כִּי יֵשׁ דְּבָרִים נִפְלָאִים וְחָכְמוֹת עֶלְיוֹנוֹת וְנוֹרָאוֹת אֲפִלּוּ בְּזֶה הָעוֹלָם שֶׁיְּכוֹלִין לִחְיוֹת בָּהֶם לְבַד בְּלִי שׁוּם אֲכִילָה וּשְׁתִיָּה.

He then said, “There are categories of wisdom, even in this world, which can sustain a person without any other nourishment. There are such awesomely wonderful categories of wisdom even in this world. A man can live without eating or drinking with such wisdom alone” (see “*His Wisdom*” #181).
