וְדַע, שֶׁכָּל בְּחִינָה שֶׁהִיא גָּבוֹהַּ לְמַעְלָה יוֹתֵר אֵצֶל הָאָדָם, הִיא יְכוֹלָה לְהַגִּיעַ וּלְהַשִּׂיג יוֹתֵר.

כְּמוֹ לְמָשָׁל, עִם הָרֶגֶל יְכוֹלִין לְהַשְׁלִיךְ אֵיזֶה דָּבָר לְמַעְלָה, אֲבָל עִם הַיָּד יְכוֹלִין לְהַשְׁלִיךְ לְמַעְלָה יוֹתֵר. וּבְהַדִּבּוּר יְכוֹלִין לְהַשִּׂיג וּלְהַגִּיעַ יוֹתֵר וְיוֹתֵר, כִּי בְּהַדִּבּוּר יְכוֹלִין לְדַבֵּר לְמֵרָחוֹק. וְהַשְּׁמִיעָה הִיא גָּבוֹהַּ יוֹתֵר וִיכוֹלִין לִשְׁמֹעַ קוֹל מֵרָחוֹק מְאֹד כְּגוֹן, כְּשֶׁיּוֹרִין בִּקְנֵי־שְׂרֵפָה (שֶׁקּוֹרִין הוֹרְמַאטֶעס) יְכוֹלִין לִשְׁמֹעַ לְמֵרָחוֹק מְאֹד. וְהָרְאִיָּה יְכוֹלָה לְהַשִּׂיג וּלְהַגִּיעַ עוֹד יוֹתֵר וְיוֹתֵר, כִּי בְּהָרְאִיָּה יְכוֹלִין לִרְאוֹת וּלְהַבִּיט עַל הַשָּׁמַיִם.

You can kick something with your foot, but throw it higher with your hand. You can reach still further with your voice, calling to a person very far away. Hearing reaches yet further, for you can hear sounds like gunfire from a great distance. Your sight reaches even further, seeing things in the sky.

נִמְצָא שֶׁכָּל בְּחִינָה שֶׁהִיא גָּבוֹהַּ יוֹתֵר לְמַעְלָה הִיא יְכוֹלָה לְהַשִּׂיג וּלְהַגִּיעַ יוֹתֵר. וְהַמַּחֲשָׁבָה הִיא גָּבוֹהַּ מְאֹד, לְמַעְלָה מִן הַכֹּל, וִיכוֹלָה לְהַשִּׂיג וּלְהַגִּיעַ לְמַעְלָה לְמַעְלָה, עַל־כֵּן צְרִיכִין לְשָׁמְרָהּ מְאֹד.

The higher the faculty, the further it can reach. Highest of all is the mind, which can penetrate the loftiest heights. You must therefore safeguard your mind very well.
