מִי שֶׁיֵּשׁ לוֹ אֱמוּנָה – חַיָּיו חַיִּים, וְהוּא מְבַלֶּה יְמֵי חַיָּיו בְּטוֹב תָּמִיד.

If you have faith, you are truly alive. When you have faith, every day is filled with good.

כִּי כְּשֶׁהוֹלֵךְ לוֹ כָּרָאוּי וְיֵשׁ לוֹ טוֹב, בְּוַדַּאי טוֹב לוֹ. וַאֲפִלּוּ כְּשֶׁאֵינוֹ כָּךְ (דְּהַיְנוּ שֶׁאֵין מִתְנַהֵג לוֹ כְּסֵדֶר וְיֵשׁ לוֹ יִסּוּרִין ח"ו) גַּם־כֵּן טוֹב, כִּי הוּא בָּטוּחַ שֶׁאַף־עַל־פִּי־כֵן הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ יְרַחֵם עָלָיו לְהַבָּא וְיֵיטִיב אַחֲרִיתוֹ. כִּי מֵאַחַר שֶׁהַכֹּל מֵאִתּוֹ יִתְבָּרַךְ בְּוַדַּאי הַכֹּל לְטוֹבָה.

When things go well, it is certainly good. But when you have troubles, it is also good. For you trust that God will eventually have mercy, and the end will be good (cf. Deuteronomy 8:16). Everything must be good, for it all comes from God.

אֲבָל מִי שֶׁאֵין לוֹ אֱמוּנָה ח"ו, חַיָּיו אֵינָם חַיִּים כְּלָל, כִּי תֵּכֶף כְּשֶׁעוֹבֵר עָלָיו אֵיזֶה רָעָה שׁוּב אֵין לוֹ שׁוּם חִיּוּת, כִּי אֵין לוֹ בַּמֶּה לְנַחֵם עַצְמוֹ כְּלָל, מֵאַחַר שֶׁאֵין לוֹ אֱמוּנָה כְּלָל, וְאֵין לוֹ שׁוּם חִיּוּת וְשׁוּם טוֹב, מֵאַחַר שֶׁהוֹלֵךְ בְּלִי הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ וּבְלִי הַשְׁגָּחָה רַחֲמָנָא לִצְלָן.

The life of a person without faith is no real life. When evil befalls him and he loses his liveliness. There is nothing to rouse or comfort him, for he has no faith, and he goes without God and His providence and without good.

אֲבָל עַל־יְדֵי אֱמוּנָה מַה טּוֹב וְיָפֶה הַחִיּוּת שֶׁלּוֹ כַּנַּ"ל.
