כִּי הַקְּלִפָּה הָעוֹשֶׂקֶת אוֹתָם ח"ו, נִקְרֵאת "לִילִית" וְהַשִּׂמְחָה הוּא הַהֶפֶךְ מִמֶּנָּה.

The evil force that destroys children is called *Lilith* (*Zohar* I, 14b). Joy is the antithesis of Lilith (ibid., III, 227b).⁹⁹comes from the root *LaILah* (night) and is associated with dark moods and depression.
