ורוח נסע מאת ה'. מלמד שהיתה פורחת כגזים האלו של צמר ויגז שלוים מן הים יש אומרים הרגה בירידתה יותר ממה שהרגה באכילתה: ויטוש על המחנה כדרך יום כה. כלפי צפון. וכדרך יום כה. כלפי דרום. ר' שמעון אומר: כדרך יום כה מלמעלן וכדרך יום כה מלמטן: וכאמתים על פני כל הארץ. מלמד שהיתה פורחת ועולה על רום מן הארץ ב' אמות כדי שלא יהיו מצטערים עליהם בשעת לקיטתה:

(Bamidbar 11:31) "And a wind went forth from the L-rd and blew in (vayagaz) quail from the sea": We are hereby taught that it (the quail flock) "blossomed" like "puffs" of wool (gazim).
