(דברים טו יח) **לֹא יִקְשֶׁה בְעֵינֶיךָ בְּשַׁלֵּחֲךָ**, מִכָּן אַתָּה אוֹמֵר: שָׂכִיר עוֹבֵד בַּיּוֹם; זֶה – בַּיּוֹם וּבַלַּיְלָה.

**Sefaria Community Translation:**
"It should not be difficult in your eyes to send him away ... for double the wages of a hired worker he has labored for you": From here it was taught that a hired worker works by day while a hebrew slave works both by day and by night.

**וּבֵרַכְךָ ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ**, יָכוֹל בָּטֵל? תַּלְמוּד לוֹמַר **בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר תַּעֲשֶׂה**.

**Sefaria Community Translation:**
"And the L-rd you G-d will bless you": I might think even if you sit idle? Therefore the verse continues: "in all that you do".

**וּבֵרַכְךָ ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ**, כָּל מָקוֹם שֶׁהַכָּתוּב עוֹנֵשׁ מָמוֹן – כָּתוּב בְּרָכָה, וּבְיוֹתֵר מָקוֹם שֶׁיֵּשׁ בּוֹ חֶסְרוֹן כִּיס.

**Sefaria Community Translation:**
“And HASHEM your God shall *bless* you” (Dt.15:18)—
**whenever a verse mentions financial misfortune**
**it writes [also] of *blessing*.**
**And especially regarding loss of income**
**[as in the owner’s cost in liberating a slave].**³⁷² par. 1:1.
