**אֵלּוּ עֶשֶׂר מַכּוֹת שֶׁהֵבִיא הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא עַל הַמִּצְרִים בְּמִצְרַים, וְאֵלוּ הֵן:** 

**אלו עשר מכות שהביא הקב"ה על המצרים במצרים.** תיבת במצרים לכאורה יותרת היא ואפשר לרמוז כי המכות האלו שרשם היו שהוכה שר מצרים והסט"א למעלה בשמים וכמו שביארו גורי האר"י זצ"ל מפלאות תמים דעים מהיכן נמשכו המכות ובאיזה מקום הכו. ורז"ל אמרו על פסוק והנה מצרים נוסע אחריהם שמצרים הוא השר של מצרים וז"ש אלו עשר מכות שהביא הקב"ה על המצריים הם אומת מצריים בארץ. במצרים לרמוז על השר שלהם וסיעתו. וכתב מהר"ד אבודרהם דמ"ש אלו עשר מכות נמשך למ"ש ביד חזקה שתים וכו' ולא כמו שטועין ועושין תחלת פסקה אלו עשר וכו' והדין עמו:

**These are the ten plagues that the blessed Holy One brought on the Egyptians in Egypt:** At first glance the phrase, “In Egypt” appears redundant. Yet it alludes to the fact that the main purpose was to smite the angelic prince of Egypt and the demonic realm above in the spiritual domain, as the students of *Ari* explained. They knew where the plagues came from and what place they struck. The sages explain the phrase, “The Israel caught sight of Egypt advancing on them,” (Ex. 14:10) as a reference to the angelic prince of Egypt. The *Haggadah* states, “These are the ten plagues that the Holy One brought on the Egyptians in Egypt,” Egyptians refers to the nation, “In Egypt,” alludes to their angelic prince and his entourage. Rabbi David Abudraham writes that this statement, “These are the ten plagues…” is a continuation of the previous statement, “With a strong hand” corresponds to two plagues…” and not the way most people incorrectly recite the previous comment and then begin, “These are the ten plagues…”
