קמז) **והאי קרא איהו** וכו': והמקרא הזה, והוא הכה את האיש המצרי, הוא מתבאר במקום אחר, דהיינו במדרגה אחרת, באופן הזה. פתח ואמר. והוא הכה את האיש המצרי איש מדה חמש באמה. והכל הוא סוד אחד. המצרי הזה, הוא אותו הנודע, שעליו כתוב, גדול מאד בארץ מצרים בעיני עבדי וגו'. כי הוא גדול ויקר, כמו שגילה הזקן ההוא (לעיל אות צ"ט).

**147. “This verse, etc.”**
**This verse,** “and he slew an Egyptian,” **is explained elsewhere,** that is, on another level, **in a similar manner. He began** [his discourse] **and said: “And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits tall”** [I Chronicles 11:23]. **It is all one mystical meaning. This Egyptian is that known one,** about whom it is stated: **“Very great in the land of Egypt, in the eyes of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the eyes of the people etc.”** [Exodus 11:3], **for he was great and distinguished, as that old man had revealed** (section #99# above).

פירוש. האי קרא שביארו רב המנונא סבא, דהיינו **והוא הכה את איש מצרי איש מראה** וכו', הוא מתבאר במדרגה אחרת באופן אחר, דהיינו ע"פ הלשון שבדברי הימים, כמ"ש והולך.

Explanation: That verse, which Rav Hamnuna Saba had interpreted, namely **“and he slew an Egyptian, a man of appearance** etc.” [II Samuel 23:21], is explained on another level in a different manner, that is, in accordance with the version that appears in Chronicles, as [Rabbi Shimon] proceeds to explain.

**והוא הכה את האיש המצרי** וכו' **וכלא רזא חדא איהו**: ב' הכתובים הם סוד אחד, כי (בשמואל ב' כ"ג) כתוב **והוא הכה את איש מצרי איש מראה**, וכאן בדברי הימים כתיב, **והוא הכה את האיש המצרי איש מדה חמש באמה**, הנה שניהם סוד אחד, וקאי על משה, וענין שינוי הלשון, מבאר לפנינו.
