[Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:1](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Sulam%20on%20Zohar/s/Introduction/r/169:1)

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
**169. “Rabbi Elazar opened etc.”**
**Rabbi Elazar opened** [his discourse] **and said: “Who is this, rising from the wilderness etc.”** [Song of Songs 8:5]. **“Who** [*mi*] **is this” is the integration of two sanctities, two worlds,** *Bina* and *Malkhut*, **in one connection and one bond. “Rising”** means that she is **actually** rising **to be the holy of holies, since *Mi*,** which is *Bina*, **is the holy of holies, and she is connected with “this,”** which is *Malkhut*, **in order that** the *Malkhut* **will be rising, which is the holy of holies. “From the wilderness,” for she inherited** this **from the wilderness, to be a bride and enter the wedding canopy.**

###### Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:2
[Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:2](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Sulam%20on%20Zohar/s/Introduction/r/169:2)

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
Explanation: The verse: “Who is this, rising from the wilderness, clinging to her beloved,” is referring to the completion of the rectification, when the bride rises to the wedding canopy, as explained below.

###### Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:3
[Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:3](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Sulam%20on%20Zohar/s/Introduction/r/169:3)

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
[Rabbi Elazar] proceeds to explain that **“who** [*mi*] **is this”** refers to the *Bina*, which is called *Mi*, and to the *Malkhut*, which is called “this.” He says that at that time, “who is this” will be incorporated as one, [as] **“the integration of two sanctities.”** Before the completion of the rectification, the *Bina* alone is called **“holy,”** while the *Malkhut* that ascends to the *Bina* is sanctified only in the holiness of the *Bina*. At that time [of the completion of the rectification], however, the *Malkhut* itself will be holy as well, like the *Bina*, and **“who is this, rising”** will be an **“integration of two sanctities,”** because **“two worlds** [will be] **in one connection and in one bond.”**

###### Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:4
[Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:4](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Sulam%20on%20Zohar/s/Introduction/r/169:4)

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
[This] “bond” is the bundle of life, which is the endpoint of the *Malkhut* with the partition that raises the returning light and binds all the *sefirot* as one. At that time, [the endpoint of the *Malkhut*] will be of the aspect of [the letter] ***yod*,** [representing the unification of the ten *sefirot* into one, and] forever equal to the *Bina*. This is called **“one bond,”** while **“one connection”** means that the height of the light of the *Malkhut* will be connected to the height of the [the light of] *Bina*, really like one, for then [the *Malkhut* will be] **“actually rising to be the holy of holies,”** i. e., the *Malkhut* itself will ascend to be a genuine holy of holies, like the *Bina*.

###### Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:5
[Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:5](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Sulam%20on%20Zohar/s/Introduction/r/169:5)

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
When [Rabbi Elazar] says **“actually rising** [ola],” this means like a burnt [*ola*] offering, which is [classified as an offering of] holy of holies. ***Mi*,** which is the mystical meaning of [*Abba* and *Imma Ila'in*], is holy of holies, and it connects with **“this,”** which is the *Malkhut*, in order for the *Malkhut* to be an expression of “rising,” which is holy of holies. Then the connection of ***Mi*** with **“this”** is achieved, to render **“this”** itself **holy of holies.** When this takes place, it is no longer possible for there to be any diminution in the *Malkhut*, since its own sanctity is **holy of holies,** like the *Bina*. Therefore, [it is stated that] “He will eliminate death forever” [Isaiah 25:8].

###### Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:6
[Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 169:6](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Sulam%20on%20Zohar/s/Introduction/r/169:6)

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
[The *Zohar*] continues: **“For she inherited** [this] **from the wilderness, to be a bride and enter the wedding canopy**. The wilderness is the place of “serpents, fiery serpents, and scorpions” [Deuteronomy 8:15]. It has already been explained above (section #124#) that those who preserve the Torah are mainly regarded as makers of the Torah through [its] practice. Thus, this great fusion of the completion of the rectification was performed **specifically from the wilderness.**
