נ) **קם רבי חייא** וכו': קם ר' חייא, והיה הולך ובוכה, ור' יוסי עמו. התענה ארבעים יום מאותו היום, לראות את ר' שמעון. אמרו לו: אינך ראוי לראות אותו. בכה והתענה ארבעים יום אחרים. הראו לו במחזה, את רבי שמעון ורבי אלעזר בנו, שהיו עוסקים במלה זו שאמר ר' יוסי משמו של ר"ש. לעיל (אות מ"ה) וכמה אלפים היו מקשיבים לדבריו.

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
**50. “Rabbi Ḥiyya arose etc.”**
**Rabbi Ḥiyya arose and was walking and crying, and Rabbi Yosei with him. He fasted forty days from that day,** [in order] **to see Rabbi Shimon. He was informed: “You are unworthy of seeing him.” He wept and fasted forty more days. He was shown in a vision Rabbi Shimon and Rabbi Elazar, his son, engaged in this matter that Rabbi Yosei said in the name of Rabbi Shimon** (section 45, above)**, and several thousands were listening to his words.**

פירוש, מתוך מצוקתו על האי שופרא דבלי בעפרא, הנ"ל, התאוה מאד לראות מדרגתו של ר"ש. כי החליט לעיל, ש**רבי שמעון לא אתבלי בעפרא. במלה דא דאמר רבי יוסי**: היינו במאמר הנ"ל שר"י אמר לר"ח משמיה דר"ש. שממנו הגיע לכל התעוררותו זו.

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
Explanation: In his distress for the beauty that withers in the dust, as described above, he yearned to see Rabbi Shimon’s level, because he had already decided that Rabbi Shimon is not withering in the dust. **“In this matter that Rabbi Yosei said,”** i.e., the above statement that Rabbi Yosei said to Rabbi Ḥiyya in the name of Rabbi Shimon, which led to this whole awakening.
