עא) **אמר ר' שמעון** וכו': אר"ש אל החברים. בבקשה מכם, שלא תוציאו מפיכם דבר תורה, שלא ידעתם ולא שמעתם מאילן גדול כראוי. בשביל שלא תהיו גורמים לאותה **חטאה**, להרוג המוני בני אדם חנם. פתחו כולם ואמרו, הרחמן יצילנו, הרחמן יצילנו.

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
**71. “Rabbi Shimon said etc.”**
**Rabbi Shimon said to the colleagues: “Please, do not let a word of Torah emerge from your mouths that you do not know or have not heard from a tree that is suitably large, so that you will not cause that sin of needlessly killing masses of people.” They all declared: “May the Merciful One save us; may the Merciful One save us!”**

פירוש **מלה דאורייתא** וכו', כלומר, אם אתם יודעים מעצמכם, מוטב,, ואם לא, צריכים אתם לשמוע איך לעבוד את ה' **מאילנא רברבא כדקא יאות**, דהיינו מאדם גדול שאפשר לסמוך עליו. **בגין דלא תהוון גרמין** וכו'.

Explanation: **“A word of Torah etc.”** In other words, if you know it of your own accord, that is all well and good, but if not, you must listen how to serve God **“from a tree that is suitably large,”** that is, from a great person who can be relied upon, **“so that you will not cause”** etc.
