**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
**75. “Rabbi Elazar began etc.”**
**Rabbi Elazar began** his discourse **and said** the following exposition**: “You shall keep My Sabbaths”** (Leviticus 19:30)**. Come and see: The Holy One, blessed be He, created the world in six days. On each and every day, He revealed His action and inserted His power on that day. When did He reveal His action and insert His power? On the fourth day, since those first three days were all hidden and not revealed. Once the fourth day arrived, He brought out the action and strength of all of them.**

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
Explanation: **“On that day”** – that is, the day of **Shabbat.** The six weekdays, which are *Ḥesed*, *Gevura*, *Tiferet*, *Netzaḥ*, *Hod*, and *Yesod*, reveal the completion of their works and their power on the day of Shabbat, which is *Malkhut*.

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
**“When did He reveal His action and insert His power? On the fourth day etc.”** [Rabbi Elazar] previously stated that “on each and every day, He revealed His action and inserted His power on **the day of Shabbat”,** yet here he says that this occurred only **“on the fourth day.”** This requires explanation. The idea is that *Malkhut* is called “fourth” and “seventh” – **fourth to the patriarchs**, which are *Ḥesed*, *Gevura*, and *Tiferet*, and **seventh to the children**, *Netzaḥ*, *Hod*, and *Yesod*. Rabbi Shimon accordingly said (section 4, above) that **“the flowers,”** which are *Ḥesed*, *Gevura*, and *Tiferet*, **“appeared on the earth” on the third day; “the time of singing has come,” this is the fourth day,** when the *Malkhut* was diminished and ascended for a second gestation; see there. Thus, the *Malkhut* was emanated from *Ḥesed*, *Gevura*, and *Tiferet* on the third day and was established on the fourth day by means of *Netzaḥ* of *Ze’er Anpin*, which is the fourth day. Consequently, in this respect she is called **“fourth to the patriarchs.”** [Rabbi Shimon] subsequently states there: **“In our land – this is the day of Shabbat, which is like the land of the living.”** Thus, the *Malkhut*, which is called **“land,”** is an expression of the **day of Shabbat**, which is **“seventh to the children.”** It is this matter, of the fourth and seventh, which is clarified here.

###### Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 75:4
[Sulam on Zohar, Introduction 75:4](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Sulam%20on%20Zohar/s/Introduction/r/75:4)

**The Sefaria Sulam, 2023:**
[The *Zohar*] continues: **“Since those first three days were all hidden and not revealed etc.”** As long as a level lacks *Malkhut*, [the level] is considered hidden and unknown. When [the level] attains *Malkhut*, [the level] attains its wholeness. This is the mystical meaning of the six days of work and Shabbat. [One could think] that the six days of work should be considered more important than the day of Shabbat, since *Ḥesed*, *Gevura*, *Tiferet*, *Netzaḥ*, *Hod*, and *Yesod*, which are the six days of work, are more important than the *Malkhut*, which is the day of Shabbat. However, the [correct] explanation is that each week is a separate level, which lacks *Malkhut* during the days of work. Therefore, the level is hidden and contains no holiness, since with the absence of *Malkhut* the first three lights are absent, as stated earlier. It is only upon the revelation of *Malkhut* in that level, that is, upon the arrival of the day of Shabbat, that the holiness is revealed in the entire level, that is, in the six days of work as well, and the holiness permeates the whole of that week. The same applies to the six days of creation: When **the first three days,** which are *Ḥesed*, *Gevura*, and *Tiferet*, were emanated before the revelation of *Malkhut*, they were **hidden,** without the revelation of the holiness within them. When the *Malkhut* was emanated, which occurred on the fourth day, the holiness of all four days was then revealed. This is the meaning of the statement: **“Once the fourth day arrived, He brought out the action and strength of all of them,”** that is, the holiness was revealed through the work and power of all four days, since *Malkhut* completes the level.
