**Sefaria Responsa Anthology:**
Question: A pot of porridge is left on a stove over Shabbat. On the following day, when the pot is removed from the stove, a wooden stirring stick is inserted into it. The mixture is stirred vigorously and mixed well. It is then beaten with the wooden stick either against the sides of the pot or within a bowl, until the meat, fat, and liquid are blended together and become a single, uniform mass. Sometimes, water is removed from the top before mixing, and at other times, hot water is added, depending on what is needed. Are all these actions prohibited or permitted?

**Sefaria Responsa Anthology:**
Response: Certainly, all of these are permitted. For we find in a clear Tannaitic explanation regarding garlic, unripe grapes, and roasted grain kernels that were crushed before Shabbat that Rabbi Yishmael says one may finish grinding them after nightfall, while Rabbi Akiva says one may not finish grinding them. And it is established that this dispute applies only when further grinding is necessary, and the halachah is according to Rabbi Yishmael.
