**¹ וששאלתם**על לחי² שמרוחק למעלה מן הקורה יותר מטפח האמר רב חסדא (עירובין ד' י"א.) צורת הפתח שעשה מן הצד³ ולא כלום ושכתבתי שיש מתירין כיון שהקורה מונחת מצד אחד על לחי אחר אע"פ שמצד אחד מן הצד כשירה לא חילק ידענא ולא בילק ידענא אלא צריך מזה ומזה שהלחיים יהי' תחת הקורה דצורת הפתח הוא במקום פתח ופתח בכה"ג לא עבדי אינשי שמצד אחד יהי' מונח עליונו של פתח על המשקוף ומצד אחד לא⁴ יהי' פתחי שימאי (שם) והם⁵ שוממין מנוולים ומקולקלים ועוד הא תניא (שם ד' י"א:) צורת הפתח שאמרו קנה מכאן וקנה מכאן וקנה על גביהם משמע אתרוייהו שיהא מונח בשוה לגמרי דלא קאמר על גבי אחד מהם:

*Q*. Is a gatelike structure consisting of two stakes and a beam, one end of which rests on one of the stakes and the other end rests more than a *tefah* away from the other stake, to be considered a gate in reference to the laws of *Erubim?* Some scholars believe that such a structure is considered a gate since one end of the beam rests on one of the stakes.
*A*. This structure is not considered a gate. In the laws of *Erubim* the minimum requirement of a structure to be called a gate, is a beam resting on a stake at one end, and on another stake at the other end.
