תשכו. מעשה באדם אחד שמתה אשתו ובשעת פטירתה ציותה לבעלה שלאחר מיתה [יתן] מקטרונה לבת אחותה [ונתרצה] לתן לה ולאחר מותר חזר בו ולא רצה כי אמר נחת רוח עשיתי [לאשתי] ולא היו כ"א דברי' בעלמא בלא קנין וחייבו מורי לתן [ממה] דאמר בפ' הזהב (בבא מציעא מ"ט ע"א) ה"מ לעשיר אבל לעני נעשה נדר ותו אמירתו לגבוה כמסירתו להדיוט ונתחייב לתן הסרבל.

*Q*. Witnesses testified that, before her death, B's wife asked B to give some of her clothes to her nephew A, and that B consented thereto. B, however, now refuses to give the clothes to A.
*A*. If A is not a poor man, i. e. if he possesses more than two hundred *zuzim*, B may withdraw his promise of gift (cf. B. M. 49a). If A is a poor man, however, B must keep his promise; for a promise to give charity is equivalent to a vow.
