**דבר**. למה הביא להם דבר. לפי ששמו ישראל רועי בקר ורועי צאן וכל בהמה בהרים ובמדברות כדי שלא יפרו וירבו אמר שהקב"ה אני אביא עליכם רועה יפה שנאמר הנה יד ד' הויה במקנך וגו' .

**Pestilence:** Why did the Holy cause a plague of pestilence? Because the Egyptians made the Israelites shepherd their flocks and herds in the mountains and wilderness in order to keep their slaves from reproducing. The Holy One said, “I will send another shepherd,” as it is written, “Behold the hand of the Lord was upon their herds.”
