**"וַיְבִיאֵנִי** אֶל שַׁעַר הַצָּפוֹן וּמָדַד" – הַשַּׁעַר, "כַּמִּדּוֹת הָאֵלֶּה, תָּאָו אֵלָו וְאֵלַמָּו וְחַלּוֹנוֹת לוֹ סָבִיב סָבִיב, אֹרֶךְ" – פֵּרוּשׁ, גּוֹבַהּ ¹, "חֲמִשִּׁים אַמָּה. ורֹחַב" - שֶׁמִּגַּג הַתָּא לְגַג תָּא שֶׁכְּנֶגְדּוֹ, "חָמֵשׁ וְעֶשְׂרִים אַמָּה. וְאֻלָמָּיו לֶחָצֵר הַחִיצוֹנָה" – בּוֹלֵט, "וְתִמוֹרִים אֶל אֵלָיו מִפּוֹ וּמִפּוֹ, וּשְׁמֹנָה מַעֲלוֹת מַעֲלָו" (יחזקאל מ, לה-לז).

“And He brought me to the Northern Gate. He measured [the gate] according to those measures.¹ It had cells, pillars, and vestibules, and there were windows in it all around. It was 50 cubits high² and 25 cubits wide.”³ 40:35-36. These verses teach us that there were 25 cubits between the edge of the cell on one side and the edge of the cell opposite it. “Its vestibules were toward” – i.e., projected into – “the Outer Courtyard. There were palm-like coronets on its pillars, and its stairway had eight steps.”⁴:37.
