**"וְאֵילָו** שְׁתַּיִם אַמּוֹת" (יחזקאל מ, ט), כְּמִין אִילָנוֹת ¹ עֲגוּלִין עֲשׂוּיִן מֵאַבְנֵי גָּזִית, עוֹמְדִים בְּסוֹף חֲלָלוֹ, וּדְבוּקִים זֶה לְכֹתֶל הַיָּמִין, וְזֶה לַכֹּתֶל הַשְּׂמָאלִי, בִּמְקוֹם מְזוּזוֹת. וּשְׁתַּיִם אַמּוֹת עֹבִי עִגּוּלָן, נִמְצָא בְּלִיטַת הָאוּלָם עִם הָאֵילִים שֶׁלּוֹ מִמִּזְרָח לְמַעֲרָב עֶשֶׂר אַמּוֹת. וְגֹבַהּ כָּל אַיִל "שִׁשִּׁים אַמָּה" (יחזקאל מ, יד), וּבְרֹאשָׁן עָשׂוּי כּוֹתֶרֶת דּוֹמָה לְדֶקֶל, דִּכְתִיב (יחזקאל מ, טז) "וְאֶל אַיִל תִּמֹרִים".

¹ ז”ל רש”י שם : כל אילים האמורים בענין הם כמין אילנות עגולים עשויים מאבני גזית, ועומדים בפתח אחד מימין ואחד משמאל, במקום סיפין, במקום מזוזות, וכן תרגם יונתן (ישעי’ ו) וינועו אמות הסיפים – אילנות סיפיא, וקרואין אילים על שם עיגולן כאֵלָה וכאלון עכ”ל.

“Its pillars were 2 cubits.” The pillars were round, treelike structures made from hewn stone. They stood at the end of the vestibule, with one attached to the right wall and the other attached to the left wall. These pillars took the place of doorposts. The diameter of each one was 2 cubits. Thus, including the pillars, the vestibule jutted out 10 cubits from east to west. Each of the pillars was 60 cubits high.¹ 40:14. At the top of each pillar, was a coronet resembling a palm tree, as stated in the verse,²16. “On each pillar, a palm-like coronet.”
