**"וְהַנּוֹתָר** בָּאֹרֶךְ לְעֻמַּת תְּרוּמַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ" שֶׁהִיא חֲמִשָּׁה וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף קָנִים, וְהָעִיר לֹא הֶחֱזִיקָה רַק חֲמֵשֶׁת אֲלָפִים קָנִים בְּאֶמְצָעָהּ, הִנֵּה נוֹתָר "עֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים קָדִימָה וַעֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים יָמָּה [וְגוֹ'] וְהָיְתָה תְבוּאָתֹה לְלֶחֶם לְעֹבְדֵי הָעִיר" (יחזקאל מח, יח).

“The remainder [of the 25,000 measuring rod] length along the sanctified [portion of] the *Terumah...*” – of the 25,000 measuring rods of length, the city occupied only 5,000 – “10,000 to the east and 10,000 to the west” – should be used for fields. “Its produce will serve as food for the workers of the city.”¹ 48:18.
