**וראוי שתאבל לידיעת הבורא**אדרבה ראויי שתתאבל מה שאינו יודע ממך רק הבורא שאז ענשך שלם שאלו ידעו ממך בני אדם ויבזוך כבר היה ענשך יותר מועט וכענין שכתב המחבר בשער יחוד המעשה פ"ה בענין המתחיל וכאשר יתיאש וכו' משתדל בזה מצד הגאוה:

**but rather it is proper to mourn** -- since only the Creator knows of them, because then you will receive full punishment. For if people knew of them and shamed you for them, your punishment will already be reduced. This is similar to what the author wrote earlier in Gate#5 chapter 5 regarding when the evil inclination comes from the side of arrogance.
