## Zechariah Chapter 7

###### Zechariah 7:1

וַֽיְהִי֙ בִּשְׁנַ֣ת אַרְבַּ֔ע לְדָרְיָ֖וֶשׁ הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ הָיָ֨ה דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶל־זְכַרְיָ֗ה בְּאַרְבָּעָ֛ה לַחֹ֥דֶשׁ הַתְּשִׁעִ֖י בְּכִסְלֵֽו׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Daryavesh, that the word of the Lord came to Zekharya on the fourth day of the ninth month, in Kislev;


###### Zechariah 7:2

וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ בֵּֽית־אֵ֔ל שַׂרְאֶ֕צֶר וְרֶ֥גֶם מֶ֖לֶךְ וַֽאֲנָשָׁ֑יו לְחַלּ֖וֹת אֶת־פְּנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
when Bet-el, Shar᾽eżer, and Regem-melekh, and his men had sent to entreat the favour of the Lord,

לֵאמֹ֗ר אֶל־הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ לְבֵית־יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת וְאֶל־הַנְּבִיאִ֖ים לֵאמֹ֑ר הַֽאֶבְכֶּה֙ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַחֲמִשִׁ֔י הִנָּזֵ֕ר כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֔יתִי זֶ֖ה כַּמֶּ֥ה שָׁנִֽים׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and to speak to the priests who were in the house of the Lord of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

וַיְהִ֛י דְּבַר־יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃

Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying,

אֱמֹר֙ אֶל־כׇּל־עַ֣ם הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים לֵאמֹ֑ר כִּֽי־צַמְתֶּ֨ם וְסָפ֜וֹד בַּחֲמִישִׁ֣י וּבַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י וְזֶה֙ שִׁבְעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה הֲצ֥וֹם צַמְתֻּ֖נִי אָֽנִי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When you fasted and mourned in the fifth month and in the seventh, for these seventy years, was it for me that you really fasted?


###### Zechariah 7:6

וְכִ֥י תֹאכְל֖וּ וְכִ֣י תִשְׁתּ֑וּ הֲל֤וֹא אַתֶּם֙ הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים וְאַתֶּ֖ם הַשֹּׁתִֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And when you did eat, and when you did drink, did you not eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?


###### Zechariah 7:7

הֲל֣וֹא אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר קָרָ֤א יְהֹוָה֙ בְּיַד֙ הַנְּבִיאִ֣ים הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֔ים בִּהְי֤וֹת יְרוּשָׁלַ֙͏ִם֙ יֹשֶׁ֣בֶת וּשְׁלֵוָ֔ה וְעָרֶ֖יהָ סְבִיבֹתֶ֑יהָ וְהַנֶּ֥גֶב וְהַשְּׁפֵלָ֖ה יֹשֵֽׁב׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Should you not hear the words which the Lord has proclaimed by the former prophets, when Yerushalayim was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities round about her, when the Negev and the coastal plain were inhabited?


###### Zechariah 7:8

וַֽיְהִי֙ דְּבַר־יְהֹוָ֔ה אֶל־זְכַרְיָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃

And the word of the Lord came to Zekharya, saying,

כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֛ר יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת לֵאמֹ֑ר מִשְׁפַּ֤ט אֱמֶת֙ שְׁפֹ֔טוּ וְחֶ֣סֶד וְרַֽחֲמִ֔ים עֲשׂ֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ אֶת־אָחִֽיו׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Thus spoke the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and show loyal love and mercy every man to his brother:


###### Zechariah 7:10

וְאַלְמָנָ֧ה וְיָת֛וֹם גֵּ֥ר וְעָנִ֖י אַֽל־תַּעֲשֹׁ֑קוּ וְרָעַת֙ אִ֣ישׁ אָחִ֔יו אַֽל־תַּחְשְׁב֖וּ בִּלְבַבְכֶֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and do not oppress the widow, or the fatherless, the stranger, or the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.


###### Zechariah 7:11

וַיְמָאֲנ֣וּ לְהַקְשִׁ֔יב וַיִּתְּנ֥וּ כָתֵ֖ף סֹרָ֑רֶת וְאׇזְנֵיהֶ֖ם הִכְבִּ֥ידוּ מִשְּׁמֽוֹעַ׃

But they refused to hearken, and turned a stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear:


###### Zechariah 7:12

וְלִבָּ֞ם שָׂ֣מוּ שָׁמִ֗יר מִ֠שְּׁמ֠וֹעַ אֶת־הַתּוֹרָ֤ה וְאֶת־הַדְּבָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר שָׁלַ֜ח יְהֹוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ בְּרוּח֔וֹ בְּיַ֖ד הַנְּבִיאִ֣ים הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֑ים וַֽיְהִי֙ קֶ֣צֶף גָּד֔וֹל מֵאֵ֖ת יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and they made their hearts an adamant stone, lest they should hear the Tora, and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore a great anger came from the 
					Lord of hosts.


###### Zechariah 7:13

וַיְהִ֥י כַאֲשֶׁר־קָרָ֖א וְלֹ֣א שָׁמֵ֑עוּ כֵּ֤ן יִקְרְאוּ֙ וְלֹ֣א אֶשְׁמָ֔ע אָמַ֖ר יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And so, when he cried, and they would not hear, the Lord of hosts said: So shall they cry, and I will not hear;


###### Zechariah 7:14

וְאֵ֣סָעֲרֵ֗ם עַ֤ל כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־יְדָע֔וּם וְהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ נָשַׁ֣מָּה אַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֔ם מֵֽעֹבֵ֖ר וּמִשָּׁ֑ב וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ אֶֽרֶץ־חֶמְדָּ֖ה לְשַׁמָּֽה׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
but I will scatter them with a storm wind among all the nations whom they know not; and the land shall be desolate after them, so that no man shall pass by or return. Thus they made the pleasant land a desolation.
