## Zechariah Chapter 9

###### Zechariah 9:1

מַשָּׂ֤א דְבַר־יְהֹוָה֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ חַדְרָ֔ךְ וְדַמֶּ֖שֶׂק מְנֻחָת֑וֹ כִּ֤י לַֽיהֹוָה֙ עֵ֣ין אָדָ֔ם וְכֹ֖ל שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The burden of the word of the Lord; in the land of Ḥadrakh and Dammeseq shall his resting place be: for the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Yisra᾽el, shall be towards the Lord:


###### Zechariah 9:2

וְגַם־חֲמָ֖ת תִּגְבׇּל־בָּ֑הּ צֹ֣ר וְצִיד֔וֹן כִּ֥י חָֽכְמָ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
and in Ḥamat also which borders thereby; Żor and Żidon, though it be very wise.


###### Zechariah 9:3

וַתִּ֥בֶן צֹ֛ר מָצ֖וֹר לָ֑הּ וַתִּצְבׇּר־כֶּ֙סֶף֙ כֶּֽעָפָ֔ר וְחָר֖וּץ כְּטִ֥יט חוּצֽוֹת׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And Żor did build herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver like dust, and fine gold like the mire of the streets.


###### Zechariah 9:4

הִנֵּ֤ה אֲדֹנָי֙ יֽוֹרִשֶׁ֔נָּה וְהִכָּ֥ה בַיָּ֖ם חֵילָ֑הּ וְהִ֖יא בָּאֵ֥שׁ תֵּאָכֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Behold, the Lord will strip her of her possessions, and he will smite her power into the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.


###### Zechariah 9:5

תֵּרֶ֨א אַשְׁקְל֜וֹן וְתִירָ֗א וְעַזָּה֙ וְתָחִ֣יל מְאֹ֔ד וְעֶקְר֖וֹן כִּֽי־הֹבִ֣ישׁ מֶבָּטָ֑הּ וְאָ֤בַד מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ מֵֽעַזָּ֔ה וְאַשְׁקְל֖וֹן לֹ֥א תֵשֵֽׁב׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Ashqelon shall see it, and fear; ῾Azza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and ῾Eqron shall see that her expectation has been confounded; and the king shall perish from ῾Azza, and Ashqelon shall not be inhabited.


###### Zechariah 9:6

וְיָשַׁ֥ב מַמְזֵ֖ר בְּאַשְׁדּ֑וֹד וְהִכְרַתִּ֖י גְּא֥וֹן פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Pelishtim.


###### Zechariah 9:7

וַהֲסִרֹתִ֨י דָמָ֜יו מִפִּ֗יו וְשִׁקֻּצָיו֙ מִבֵּ֣ין שִׁנָּ֔יו וְנִשְׁאַ֥ר גַּם־ה֖וּא לֵֽאלֹהֵ֑ינוּ וְהָיָה֙ כְּאַלֻּ֣ף בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה וְעֶקְר֖וֹן כִּיבוּסִֽי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his detestable things from between his teeth: and he too, shall remain for our God, and he shall be like a clan in Yehuda, and ῾Eqron like the Yevusite.


###### Zechariah 9:8

וְחָנִ֨יתִי לְבֵיתִ֤י מִצָּבָה֙ מֵעֹבֵ֣ר וּמִשָּׁ֔ב וְלֹֽא־יַעֲבֹ֧ר עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם ע֖וֹד נֹגֵ֑שׂ כִּ֥י עַתָּ֖ה רָאִ֥יתִי בְעֵינָֽי׃{ס}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I will encamp about my house against any army, against any that pass by, and return: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with my eyes.

גִּילִ֨י מְאֹ֜ד בַּת־צִיּ֗וֹן הָרִ֙יעִי֙ בַּ֣ת יְרוּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם הִנֵּ֤ה מַלְכֵּךְ֙ יָ֣בוֹא לָ֔ךְ צַדִּ֥יק וְנוֹשָׁ֖ע ה֑וּא עָנִי֙ וְרֹכֵ֣ב עַל־חֲמ֔וֹר וְעַל־עַ֖יִר בֶּן־אֲתֹנֽוֹת׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Żiyyon; shout, O daughter of Yerushalayim: behold, thy king comes to thee: he is just, and victorious; humble, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt, the foal of an ass.


###### Zechariah 9:10

וְהִכְרַתִּי־רֶ֣כֶב מֵאֶפְרַ֗יִם וְסוּס֙ מִיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וְנִכְרְתָה֙ קֶ֣שֶׁת מִלְחָמָ֔ה וְדִבֶּ֥ר שָׁל֖וֹם לַגּוֹיִ֑ם וּמׇשְׁלוֹ֙ מִיָּ֣ם עַד־יָ֔ם וּמִנָּהָ֖ר עַד־אַפְסֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And I will cut off the chariot from Efrayim, and the horse from Yerushalayim, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace to the nations: and his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth.


###### Zechariah 9:11

גַּם־אַ֣תְּ בְּדַם־בְּרִיתֵ֗ךְ שִׁלַּ֤חְתִּי אֲסִירַ֙יִךְ֙ מִבּ֔וֹר אֵ֥ין מַ֖יִם בּֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
As for thee also, because of the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit in which there was no water.


###### Zechariah 9:12

שׁ֚וּבוּ לְבִצָּר֔וֹן אֲסִירֵ֖י הַתִּקְוָ֑ה גַּם־הַיּ֕וֹם מַגִּ֥יד מִשְׁנֶ֖ה אָשִׁ֥יב לָֽךְ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Return to the stronghold you prisoners of hope: even to day will I restore to thee a double promise.


###### Zechariah 9:13

כִּֽי־דָרַ֨כְתִּי לִ֜י יְהוּדָ֗ה קֶ֚שֶׁת מִלֵּ֣אתִי אֶפְרַ֔יִם וְעוֹרַרְתִּ֤י בָנַ֙יִךְ֙ צִיּ֔וֹן עַל־בָּנַ֖יִךְ יָוָ֑ן וְשַׂמְתִּ֖יךְ כְּחֶ֥רֶב גִּבּֽוֹר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For I have bent Yehuda for me, I have filled the bow with Efrayim, and raised up my sons, O Żiyyon, against thy sons, O Yavan, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man.


###### Zechariah 9:14

וַֽיהֹוָה֙ עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם יֵֽרָאֶ֔ה וְיָצָ֥א כַבָּרָ֖ק חִצּ֑וֹ וַֽאדֹנָ֤י יֱהֹוִה֙ בַּשּׁוֹפָ֣ר יִתְקָ֔ע וְהָלַ֖ךְ בְּסַעֲר֥וֹת תֵּימָֽן׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And the Lord shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth like the lightning: and the Lord God shall blow the shofar, and shall move in the stormwinds of the south.


###### Zechariah 9:15

יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָאוֹת֮ יָגֵ֣ן עֲלֵיהֶם֒ וְאָכְל֗וּ וְכָֽבְשׁוּ֙ אַבְנֵי־קֶ֔לַע וְשָׁת֥וּ הָמ֖וּ כְּמוֹ־יָ֑יִן וּמָֽלְאוּ֙ כַּמִּזְרָ֔ק כְּזָוִיּ֖וֹת מִזְבֵּֽחַ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The Lord of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and be boisterous as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and like the corners of the altar.


###### Zechariah 9:16

וְֽהוֹשִׁיעָ֞ם יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֛ם בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא כְּצֹ֣אן עַמּ֑וֹ כִּ֚י אַבְנֵי־נֵ֔זֶר מִֽתְנוֹסְס֖וֹת עַל־אַדְמָתֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And the Lord their God shall save them on that day as the flock of his people; for they shall be like the stones of a crown gloaming over his land.


###### Zechariah 9:17

כִּ֥י מַה־טּוּב֖וֹ וּמַה־יׇּפְי֑וֹ דָּגָן֙ בַּחוּרִ֔ים וְתִיר֖וֹשׁ יְנוֹבֵ֥ב בְּתֻלֽוֹת׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For how goodly they are, and how beautiful! corn shall make young men flourish; and new wine, the virgins.
