עַד דַּהֲווֹ אָזְלֵי, אָמַר רִבִּי אַבָּא, הָא תָּנֵינָן, עַל חַד סְרֵי מִלִּין נִגְעִין אַתְיָין עַל בְּנֵי נָשָׁא. וְאִלֵּין אִינּוּן: עַל עֲבוֹדָה זָרָה. וְעַל קִלְּלַת הַשֵּׁם. וְעַל גִּלוּי עֲרָיוֹת. וְעַל גְּנֵיבָה. וְעַל לָשׁוֹן הָרָע. וְעַל עֵדוּת שָׁקֶר. וְעַל דַּיָּינָא דִּמְקַלְקֵל יַת דִּינָא. וְעַל שְׁבוּעַת שָׁוְא. וְעַל דְּעָאל בִּתְחוּמָא דְּחַבְרֵיהּ. וְעַל דִּמְחַשֵּׁב מַחֲשָׁבִין בִּישִׁין. וְעַל דִּמְשַׁלֵּחַ מְדָנִים בֵּין אַחִים. וְאִית דְּאַמְרֵי, אַף עַל עֵינָא בִּישָׁא. וְכֻלְּהוּ תָּנֵינָן בְּמַתְנִיתָא.

As they were going, R. Abba said: ‘We have learnt that for eleven things the plague of leprosy comes upon a man, and these are they: for idolatry, for cursing the Name, for fornication, for stealing, for slander, for false witness, for perversion of justice, for false swearing, for encroaching on the property of a neighbour, for harbouring evil designs, and for fomenting quarrels between brothers. Some add also, for the evil eye.’¹

עֲבוֹדָה זָרָה מִנָּיִן. דִּכְתִּיב, (שמות ל״ב:כ״ה) וַיַּרְא מֹשֶׁה אֶת הָעָם כִּי פָרוּעַ הוּא כִּי פְרָעֹה אַהֲרֹן. מַאי כִּי פָרוּעַ הוּא. דְּאַלְקוּ בְּצָרַעַת. כְּתִיב הָכָא כִּי פָרוּעַ הוּא, וּכְתִיב הָתָם, (ויקרא י״ג:מ״ה) וְהַצָּרוּעַ אֲשֶׁר בּוֹ הַנֶּגַע בְּגָדָיו יִהְיוּ פְרוּמִים וְרֹאשׁוֹ יִהְיֶה פָרוּעַ. וְעַל קִלְּלַת הַשֵּׁם, דִּכְתִּיב, (שמואל א י״ז:מ״ו) הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה יְסַגֶּרְךָ יְיָ בְּיָדִי, וּכְתִיב, (ויקרא י״ג:ה׳) וְהִסְגִּירוֹ הַכֹּהֵן.
