דִּגְלָא תִּנְיָינָא. מַשִׁרְיָיא מִזַּיְינָא, נֶשֶׁ"ר, אוּרִיאֵ"ל, דָּרוֹ"ם. תְּרֵי מְמָנָן עִמֵּיהּ, שַׁמְשִׁיאֵ"ל חַסְדִּיאֵ"ל. הַאי נֶשֶׁר סָלִיק, וְכָל מָארֵיהוֹן דְּגַדְפִּין מִקַּמֵּיהּ. כַּמָה מַשִׁרְיָין סַלְּקִין בְּכָל סִטְרִין. כָּל חַד וְחַד בְּתּוּקְפָא דְּשִׁמְשָׁא.

**The Zohar; London, Soncino Press, 1933:**
The second standard bore on it the Eagle, symbolic of the angel Uriel, and was ranged on the south. Two chieftains accompanied him, namely, Shamshiel and Hasdiel. When the Eagle arose all the winged forces went in front, accompanied by innumerable hosts on all sides.

רוּחָא דְּרוּחָא פְּנִימָאָה נָפִיק, וְהַהוּא רוּחָא מָטֵי לְהַאי נֶשֶׁר, וְסָלִיק אֶבְרוֹי וּמְכַסְּיָיא לְגוּפָא. כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר, (איוב ל״ט:כ״ו) הֲמִבִּינָתְךָ יַאֲבֶר נֵץ יִפְרוֹשׂ כְּנָפָיו לְתֵימָן. כְּגַוְונָא כְּדוּגְמָא כְּעֵין כְּנֶשֶׁר יָעִיר קִנּוֹ הַאי נֶשֶׁר נֵץ בַּהֲדֵיהּ יוֹנָה, בַּהֲדֵיהּ נֵץ, וְכָל מָארֵי דְּגַדְפִּין כֻּלְּהוּ מְצַפְצְפָן וְחַדָּאן. חַד מִסִּטְרָא (ס"א חד סמכא) קָמֵּיהּ, סָלִיק מִתַּתָּא לְעֵילָּא. כַּמָה צִיפָּרִין נַחְתִּין וְעָאלִין, מְצַפְצְפָן וְחַדָּאן, אַזְלִין וְשָׁאטִין.

כַּד נָטִיל, אוֹשִׁיט גַּדְפָּא יְמִינָא, כָּנִישׁ לְכָל חֵילוֹי, תְּלַת מְאָה וְחַמְשִׁין אֶלֶף מָארֵי דְּגַדְפִין, בִּתְרֵי גּוּפֵי, נֶשֶׁ"ר וְאַרְיֵ"ה כַּחֲדָא. אָרִים קָלָא, כֻּלְּהוּ אַחֲרָנִין סַלְּקִין וְנַחְתִּין, מְצַפְצְפָן מִסִּטְרַיְיהוּ, מִכַּמָּה דַּרְגִּין.

When he set off he put forth his right pinion, and gathered unto him all his hosts to the number of three hundred and fifty thousand.

ג' רֵישִׁין אִינּוּן כַּחֲדָא, בְּמַשִּׁרְיָין אִלֵּין. וְכֻלְּהוּ בְּחַד חוּשְׁבָּן. וְחוּשְׁבָּן דְּאִלֵּין רֵישִׁין, רֵישָׁא חֲדָא, אַרְבְּעִין וְשִׁית אֶלֶף וַחֲמֵשׁ מְאָה. רֵישָׁא תִּנְיָנָא חַמְשִׁין וְתֵשַׁע אֶלֶף וּתְלַת מְאָה. רֵישָׁא תְּלִיתָאָה, אַרְבְּעִין וַחֲמֵשׁ אַלְפִין, וְשִׁית מְאָה וְחַמְשִׁין.

Three groups belonged to that standard; the first contained forty-six thousand and five hundred, the second fifty-nine thousand and three hundred, and the third fifty-four thousand six hundred and fifty.

מֵאִלֵּין תְּרֵי סִטְרִין, נָפִיק תְּרֵין כָּרוֹזֵי, דְּאָזְלֵי מִקַּמֵּי כֻּלְּהוּ מַשִּׁרְיָין. כַּד אִלֵּין תְּרֵי מַכְרִיזֵי, כָּל חֵילִין, וְכָל מַשִׁרְיָין, חֵיוָון זְעִירִין עִם רַבְרְבָן, כֻּלְּהוּ מִתְכַּנְּשֵׁי. מַאן חָמֵי נְטִילָא דְּכֻלְּהוּ רְקִיעִין, כּוּלְּהוּ נַטְלִין בְּמַטוּלָא בְּמַשִׁרְיָין, לְקַמֵּיהּ דְּהַהוּא מַשְׁכְּנָא.

Two heralds, emerging out of these two flanks, marched in front of all these hosts. At their proclamation there assembled all hosts and legions, living creatures, small and large. All the firmaments indeed moved forward along with these hosts in front of the tabernacle.

בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּחַד מִנַּיְיהוּ, הַהוּא דְּאָתֵי מִסִּטְרָא דְּאַרְיֵה, פָּשִׁיט קָלָא, בְּגִין דְּלָא יִזְדַּעְזְעוּן כָּל אִינּוּן קַלִין. כְּדֵין מִתְכַּנְּשִׁין כָּל אִינּוּן מַשִׁרְיָין. בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּאַחֲרָא קָרֵי, מַתְּבָּר קָלָא וְלָא פָּשִׁיט, כָּל אִינּוּן מַשִׁרְיָין דְהַאי נֶשֶׁר, כֻּלְּהוּ מִתְכַּנְּשׁוּ לְנַטְלָא בְּמָטַלְנַיְיהוּ. לָקֳבֵיל אִינּוּן, שְׁתֵּי חֲצוֹצְרוֹת כֶּסֶף, כְּגַוְונָא דָּא כֹּלָּא לְתַתָּא. תָּא חֲזֵי, כַּד אִלֵּין נַטְלִין מַה כְּתִיב, (יחזקאל א׳:י״ט) וּבְלֶכֶת הַחַיּוֹת יֵלְכוּ הָאוֹפַנִּים אֶצְלָם, אִינּוּן דְּמִתְכָּנְּשוּ לְגַבַּיְיהוּ, כְּגַוְונָא דְּרֵישָׁא אִסְתְּכַּל, הָכִי נָמֵי כֻּלְּהוּ.

We thus read: “And when the *Hayoth* went, the *Ophanim* went hard by them”.
