(דברים טו כ) **לִפְנֵי ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ תֹּאכֲלֶנּוּ שָׁנָה בְשָׁנָה**, מְלַמֵּד שֶׁהַבְּכוֹר נֶאֱכָל לִשְׁנֵי יָמִים: יוֹם אֶחָד לְשָׁנָה זוֹ וְיוֹם אֶחָד לַשָּׁנָה הַבָּאָה.

**Pisqa’ 125**³⁸⁶
1. “Before HASHEM your God shall you eat it *year by year*,” (Dt. 15:20).
This teaches that
**the Firstling is eaten for two days**³⁸⁷—
one day [at the end] of this year [of life]
and one day at [the beginning of] the next year.
