(דברים טז ו) **כִּי אִם אֶל הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ**, רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר אוֹמֵר: **בָּעָרֶב** אַתָּה זוֹבֵחַ, **כְּבוֹא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ** אַתָּה אוֹכֵל, **מוֹעֵד צֵאתְךָ מִמִּצְרָיִם** אַתָּה שׂוֹרֵף.

1. “There H HhH Hyou shall slaughter the Paschal lamb *in the evening*,
at the *setting of the sun*, *in the season* of your liberation from Egypt” (Dt. 16:6).
**R. Eliezer says:**
***In the evening*—[this is when] you slay it;**
***at the setting of the sun—*[this is when] you eat it;**
***at the season of your liberation from Egypt—*[this is] when you burn it.**

רַבִּי עֲקִיבָה אוֹמֵר: **בָּעָרֶב** אַתָּה זוֹבֵחַ, **כְּבוֹא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ** אַתָּה אוֹכֵל; עַד מָתַי? עַד **מוֹעֵד צֵאתְךָ מִמִּצְרָיִם**. דָּבָר אַחֵר: **מוֹעֵד צֵאתְךָ מִמִּצְרָיִם** לִשְׁחִיטָתוֹ, **כְּבוֹא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ** לִצְלִיָּתוֹ, **בָּעָרֶב** לַאֲכִילָתוֹ.

**R. Akiva says:**
***In the evening*—[this is] when you slay it;**
***at the setting of the sun—*[this is when] you eat it.**
**Until when [may you eat it]?**
***At the season of your liberation from Egypt*—**
**until the next morning (i.e., Ex. 12:51; Nu. 33:3).**
Another word:
***At the season*—[the month of Aviv,] when you slaughter it.**
***At the setting of the sun*— [of the 14th of Aviv], when you roast it.**
