אֲנָא גַבְרָא דַחֲזָא עָנְיִי בְּחוּטְרָא דְרָדֵי בְּרוּגְזֵיהּ:

יְתִיב בִּלְחוֹדוֹהִי וְיִשְׁתּוֹק וְיִסְבּוֹל יְסוּרִין דְאָתִין עֲלוֹהִי בְּגִין יִחוּדָא דִשְׁמָא דַייָ דְמִשְׁתַּלְחִין לְאִתְפְּרַע מִינֵיהּ עַל חוֹבָא קַלִּילָא דְחַב בְּעַלְמָא הָדֵין עַד כַּד יָחוּס עֲלוֹהִי וְיִטְלִינוּן מִנֵּיהּ וִיקַבֵּל אַפֵּי שְׁלִים לְעַלְמָא דְאָתֵי:

Let him sit alone and be silent, bearingthe corrections which have come upon him, for the sake of the unity of the name of the Lord, which have been sent to punish him for the minor sins which he has committed in this world, until he have mercy upon him and lift them from him so that he may receive him perfected in the world to come.

יִּתֵּן בְּעַפְרָא פּוּמֵיהּ וְיִשְׁתַּטַּח קֳדָם רִבּוֹנֵיהּ מָאִים אִית סְבַר:

Let him put his mouth to the dustand prostrate himself before his master perhaps there is hope.

**Let him turn his cheek to the one that smites,**for the sake of the fear of the Lord, let him be filled with insult.

For the Lord will not neglecthis servants **forever,**giving them over into the hand of their enemy.

Butfirst he breaksand afterwards he repents and has mercyon the righteous in the abundance of his goodness.

Forsince man did not afflicthis soul nor removed arrogance **from his heart,**therefore hecaused destructionto come upon the sons of men.

Confounding apoor **man in his quarrels;**is it possible that this will not be revealed before the Lord?

Who is the man who has spokenand an evil thing had been done in the world, unless because they did that which they were not commanded bythe mouth of the Lord?

מִפִּי אֱלָהָא לָא תִיפּוֹק בִּישָׁתָא אֱלָהֵן עַל בְּרַת קָלָא רְמִיזָא בְּגִין חֲטוּפִין דְאִתְמְלִיאַת אַרְעָא וּבְעִידַן דְבָעֵי לְמִגְזַר טוּבָא בְּעַלְמָא מִן פּוּם קְוּדְשָׁא נַפְקָא:

From the mouth of God Most High there does not issue evil, rather by the hint of a whisper, because of the violence with which the land is filled. But when he desires to decree good in the world it issues from the holy mouth.

מַה מָמוֹן יִשְׁכַּח אֱנָשׁ דְיָחוֹב עַל יוֹמֵי חַיּוֹהִי גַבְרָא רַשִּׁיעָא עַל חוֹבוֹהִי:

What profit shall a manfind who sins all the days of **his life;**a wicked man for his sins?

Let us search and examine our ways; and turnin repentance before the Lord.

Let us lift ourcleansed heartsand cast away theft and robbery from **our hands.**And let us repent before God the dwelling of whose Shekinah is in heaven above.

נַחְנָא מְרַדְנָא סַרָבְנָא וּמִן בִּגְלַל דְלָא הֲדַרְנָא לְוָתָךְ אַנְתְּ לָא שְׁבַקְתְּ:

We have rebelled and been disobedientand since we did not return to you, you have not forgiven.

You have made us like wanderers and vagabonds among the nations.

**All our enemies have opened their mouths against us,**to announce evil decrees against us.
