If the place which the L-rd your G-d shall choose to dedicate to His name shall be too far from you, you shall slaughter of your herd and your flock that G-d will give you in the manner I have prescribed… (ibid. 12:21) There is a tradition from Tzaddikim, the disciples of the Baal Shem Tov, that the words of the sefer Simla Chadasha¹⁷. are especially propitious to safeguard ritual slaughters (shochtim) from making errors, much in the same way as are the words of the Zohar. If a slaughter is well versed in this holy sefer, the merit of its author will save him from mistakes when he slaughters.
