פעמים יכול לדבק עצמו שלא בשעת התפלה, למעלה, שיחשוב במחשבתו שהוא למעלה מכיפת הרקיע, ואחר כך יחזק עצמו לעלות למעלה, ופעמים אפילו בשעת התפלה אינו יכול לעלות למעלה, עובד ברחימו למטה, ומכח מה שמדבר בדחילו ורחימו למטה ומדבק עצמו בבורא יתברך שמו, יזכה לעלות למעלה מכל הרקיעים והאופנים והשרפים, ומדבק שם באותו עולם: (צוואת הריב"ש די"ז ע"ב).
