הָא כְּתִיב: "וַיִּשְׁמַע פִּינְחָס הַכֹּהֵן"? הַהוּא לְיַחֵס זַרְעוֹ אַחֲרָיו. פירוש הניח תואר הכהן על פנחס עצמו דכתיב וַיִּשְׁמַע פִּינְחָס הַכֹּהֵן (יהושע כב, ל) כאלו הוא ראשון לכהונה כמו אהרן הכהן ועל כן בדין הוא שיתייחסו זרעו אחריו כי הוא הראש.
