And at that time shall Mikha᾽el stand up, the great chief angel, who stands for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation till that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one who shall be found written in the book.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And at that time Michael, the great prince who stands [up] for the children of Your people, will stand [mute, seeing the Holy One Blessed be He "contending" with Himself, saying: "How shall I destroy such a great nation for the sake of Israel?"] And there will be a time of turmoil [(in the heavenly synod and denunciation of Torah scholars)], the likes of which had never been, from [the time Israel] had become a nation until that time. And at that time your people will be delivered, according to all that is written in this book [viz. 7:11, 18].

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And many of those who sleep in the earth will wake [(at the resurrection)] — these for eternal life and these for shamings and eternal mortification.

וְהַ֨מַּשְׂכִּלִ֔ים יַזְהִ֖רוּ כְּזֹ֣הַר הָרָקִ֑יעַ וּמַצְדִּיקֵי֙ הָֽרַבִּ֔ים כַּכּוֹכָבִ֖ים לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃{פ}

And they who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament; and they who turn many to righteousness like the stars for ever and ever.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And the enlightened [(who occupied themselves with Torah and mitzvoth)] will shine like the splendor of the firmament, and the turners of the many to righteousness [will shine] like the stars for all eternity.

But thou, O Daniyyel, shut up the words, and seal the book, until the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And you, Daniel, conceal [i.e., shroud] the words and seal the book until the time of the end [i.e., towards the advent of the redemption], when many will aspire [to unravel the secrets of the time of the redemption] and knowledge will increase.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

Then I Daniyyel looked, and, behold, there stood two others, the one on this side of the bank of the River, and the other on that side of the bank of the River.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And I saw — I, Daniel — and, behold, two other [angels] standing; one on one bank of the river [(Chidekel)], one on the other.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the River, How long shall it be to the end of the wonders?

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And he [(one of them)] said to the man clothed in linen [(the angel who spoke with me)], who [stood] above the waters of the river: Until when will the hidden end delay [(in coming)]?

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the River, when he lifted up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by the One who lives for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when the crushing of the power of the holy people shall have been completed, all these things shall be finished.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And I heard the man clothed in linen above the waters of the river. And he lifted his right hand and his left hand heavenwards, and he swore by the Life of the World that at a time of two times and half a time, and at the end of the quashing of the strength of the holy people [viz. Deuteronomy 32:36], all of these shall come to an end.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

And I heard, but I did not understand: then I said, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And I heard, but I did not understand. And I said: My master, what shall be the end of these [computations]?

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

And he said, Go thy way, Daniyyel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And he said: Go, Daniel, for the things are concealed and sealed until the time of the end [i.e., towards the advent of the redemption].

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and be tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

[These computations] will be clarified and elucidated and deciphered by many, but the wicked will distort [(them, and when their "times" have come and gone, they will deny the redemption)]. And all the wicked will not understand (them), but the enlightened [(the Torah sages)] will understand [(when the time arrives)].

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that makes desolate be set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And from the time of the abolition of the continual [burnt-offering] and its displacement by "the mute abomination" [until its return in the days of the Messiah], one thousand and two hundred and ninety years [shall elapse].

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

Happy is he who waits, and reaches a thousand three hundred and thirty five days.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

Happy is he who waits [(forty-five years beyond this sum)] and attains to one thousand and three hundred and thirty-five years [(the Messiah being destined to be concealed for forty-five years after he is revealed.)]

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand up for thy allotted portion at the end of the days.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And you, go to the end [i.e., to your grave]; and you shall rest and arise to your lot [with the righteous] at the end of days.
