ויוציאנו ה' ממצרים כו', לא ע"י מלאך כו'. כי כל מערכות השמים עומדים ברשותו ית"ש ומתהלכים על השלימות ההוא שהושם בטבעם בזמן בריאותם, עליו לא יוסיפו ולא יגרעו ממנו. אך אינם מבחינים בין רעים לטובים, כאשר ישלחם ה' לשבט לעיר או מדינה, ע"ד כיון שניתן רשות למשחית אינו מבחין בין טוב לרע, וכאשר אנו רואים בפעולה אחת שהיא מיוחדת לבד לכלות הרעים ואינה שולטת בטובים, ע"ד (וארא ט') והפלה ה' בין מקנה ישראל ובין מקנה מצרים ולא ימות מכל לבני ישראל דבר, וע"ד במכות בכורות ולא יתן המשחית לבא אל בתיכם לנגוף, מזה אנו רואים שנעשה רק ע"י ית' ולא מסרם לדברים טבעיים, ע"ד (ישעיה מ"ד) ה' הוא שמי וכבודי לאחר לא אתן, ר"ל הכבוד המושג שהוא כבוד אמתי לעשות כרצונו לא נתן להם רק הכבוד אליו ית'. וזה הוא הסימן שכאשר יפעל כנגד מנהגו של עולם בזה יודיע הש"י שאך לו לבדו המלוכה, ובזה יתייחד בכבודו ובהכרת אלהותו ובפירסום גדולת תפארתו, וזה אני ולא מלאך, ועברתי בארץ מצרים בלילה הזה כו', אף שהמקום אינו ראוי ואינו מוכן כי א"מ מלאה גילולים ולא היה ראוי שתתגלה שכינתו ית"ש משם, עכ"ז רחם על ישראל, אבל יהיה דרך העברה עד שיצאו ישראל משם, ועוד תהיה ג"כ לרעת מצרים והכיתי כל בכור כו', נזק ארציי אם שאלהיהם יהיה קיים, וזה רפואת החולי בעוד הסיבה קיימת, ולכן השלים דברו אני ה' לרמוז שגדול כחו ית' בזה, בכוריהם להכוח אף שאלהיהם קיים לפי שהוא ית"ש ברא הכל, והוא מכינם והוא משדדם, והכל מפאת שראה ה' בעני עמו שמצרים הרעו להם כנ"ל.
The Lord took us out of Egypt: and not by an angel, etc: The heavenly forces which inhabit the universe are not like the forces of God. They are controlled by God. They were created complete just as they are. Nothing can be added or taken away from them. Also, they do not distinguish between good and evil. If they are sent to a nation or a city to destroy, they cannot distinguish between the people they destroy. God, on the other hand, when he acts in the world, distinguishes between the good and the bad. We see this in the case of the plagues: “But the Lord distinguished between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of the Egyptians” (Exodus 9:4) and “God did not let the destroyer enter your houses to cause a plague…” (Exodus 12:23) From this we can see that the plagues were an act of God and not an act of the natural or the heavenly forces of the universe – neither an angel or a Seraph, etc. In this way God made known that no other force in the world has His sovereignty. God was willing to do this out of love for Israel even though Egypt was not a worthy place for His glory to dwell. It was a land filled with idolatry and impurity. Since God is the creator of all things he can establish all things or destroy them.
