Thou also, son of man, take thee a brick, and lay it before thee, and trace upon it a city, namely, Yerushalayim:

and lay siege against it, and build a siege wall against it, and cast a mound against it; set camps also against it, and set battering rams against it round about.

And take thou an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face towards it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Yisra᾽el.

Moreover lie thou upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Yisra᾽el upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity.

For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, by an equivalent number of days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Yisra᾽el.

And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Yehuda: I have appointed thee forty days, each day for a year.

Therefore thou shalt set thy face towards the siege of Yerushalayim, and thy arm shall be uncovered, and thou shalt prophesy against it.

And, behold, I will lay cords upon thee, so that thou shalt not be able to turn thyself from one side to another, till thou hast completed the days of thy siege.

Take thou also wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread from them; for the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat it.

And thy food which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: once a day shalt thou eat it.

Thou shalt drink also water by measure, the sixth part of a hin: once a day shalt thou drink.

And thou shalt eat it like barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with human excrement, in their sight.

And the Lord said, Thus shall the children of Yisra᾽el eat their bread, unclean, among the nations, whither I will drive them.

Then I said, Ah Lord God, behold my soul has never been polluted: for from my youth up even till now I have not eaten that which dies of itself, or is torn by beasts, nor did loathsome meat ever come into my mouth.

Then he said to me, Lo, I have given thee cow’s dung instead of human dung, and thou shalt pre­pare thy bread upon that.

Moreover he said to me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Yerushalayim: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with anxiety; and they shall drink water by measure, and in appalment:

that they may lack bread and water, and be appalled with one another, and waste away for their iniquity.
