It came to be when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, that daughters were born to them.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them,

The sons of the rulers saw that the daughters of man were fair and they took for themselves wives from whomever they chose.

that the distinguished men saw that the daughters of men were fair; and they took them wives of all whom they chose.

that the sons of the nobles saw the daughters of men when they were adorned [to be wed, at which time one of them cohabited with her first], and they took for themselves consorts of all that they chose, [even by way of adultery, even by way of sodomy].

Adonoy said, My spirit will not continue to judge man forever, since he is nothing but flesh. His days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive on account of man, for that he also is flesh: and his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

And the L-rd said: My spirit shall not contend [in Me] forever [i.e., interminably] concerning man, [whether or not to destroy him,] in that [this,] too, [is in him, that] he is flesh, [and not a hard substance — and even so he does not humble himself before Me!] and his days shall be one hundred and twenty years, [at which time, if he has not repented, I shall bring a flood.]

There were giants on the earth in those days, and also later, when the sons of the rulers came to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mightiest ones who ever existed. [They were] men of renown.

There were Nefilim in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the distinguished men came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were mighty men of old, men of renown.

The Nefilim [those who fell (naflu) and who overthrew (hipilu) the world] were in the land in those days [the days of the generation of Enosh and the sons of Cain], and also afterwards [(after they had seen a third of the world flooded in the days of Enosh and should have repented of their ways)], when the sons of the nobles came to (i.e., lived with) the daughters of men, who bore unto them [giants like them]. They are the "mighty ones" [in rebelling against the L-rd]; of yore, men of name [(their names alluding to their future downfall, e.g., "Irad," "Mechuyael," Methushael" (4:18), all connoting destruction)].

Adonoy saw that man’s wickedness had increased on the earth, and that every inclination of his heart was only for evil, all day long.

And the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that all the impulse of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

And the L-rd saw that the evil of man was great in the earth and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the day.

Adonoy was comforted that He had made man on the earth, and He grieved in His heart.

And the Lord repented that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.

And the L-rd was comforted that He had made man on earth, [and not in heaven, where he would have incited the celestial creatures to rebellion], and He thought to scourge him.

Adonoy said, I will obliterate mankind which I have created from the face of the earth, from man to beast, to the creeping things and to the birds of heaven, for I regret that I made them.

And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth: both man, and beast, and creeping things, and the birds of the air; for I repent that I have made them.

And the L-rd said: I will blot out the man that I have created from off the face of the earth [He is earth and I shall blot him out with water] — from man until beast [(The beasts, too, had corrupted their ways)] until creeping thing and bird of the heavens; for I have bethought Myself [of what to do] for having made them.

But Noach found favor in the eyes of Adonoy.

But Noaĥ found favour in the eyes of the Lord.

And Noach found favor in the eyes of the L-rd.

These are the progeny of Noach. Noach was a righteous man, flawless in his generations; Noach walked with Elohim.

These are the generations of Noaĥ: Noaĥ was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noaĥ walked with God.

These are the progeny of Noach. [(Noach's name having been mentioned, "The remembrance of the righteous is for blessing," viz.:)] Noach was a righteous man; perfect was he in his generations. With G-d [i.e., with His support] Noach walked.

Noach fathered three sons, Sheim, Cham and Yafes.

And Noaĥ begot three sons, Shem, Ḥam, and Yefet.

And Noach begot three sons: Shem, Cham, and Yafeth.

The earth was corrupt before Elohim, and the earth was filled with violent crime.

The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

And the earth became corrupt [(with illicit relations and idolatry)] before G-d, and the earth was filled with theft.

Elohim saw the earth and beheld that it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its way on the earth.

And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth.

And G-d beheld the earth, and, behold, it had become corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth, [even beasts, animals, and birds mating outside of their kind].

Elohim said to Noach, The end of all flesh has come before Me. For the earth is filled with violent crime because of them, and so, I will destroy them with the earth.

And God said to Noaĥ, The end of all flesh is come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

And G-d said to Noach: The end of all flesh has come before Me, [illicit relations and idolatry bringing "promiscuous" destruction to the world], for the earth is filled with theft through them, [theft "sealing" their decree], and, behold, I shall destroy them from the earth.

Make for yourself an ark of cedar wood. Make the ark into compartments and caulk the inside and outside with tar.

Make thee an ark of gofer wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood. [Measured] compartments shall you make in the ark, and you shall pitch it inside and outside with pitch [against the turbulent waters].

This is how you should make it; the ark’s length shall be three hundred amos, its width fifty amos.

And this is the fashion of which thou shalt make it: the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

And this is how you shall make it: three hundred cubits, the length of the ark; fifty cubits, its width; and thirty cubits, its height.

Make a skylight for the ark, and finish it to one amoh at the top. Place the opening of the ark in its side. Make a lower deck, a second and a third deck.

A window shalt thou make to the ark, and to a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in its side; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

A window shall you make for the ark. To a cubit shall you finish it above, [the roof slanting upwards to a cubit so that the water would run down its sides], and the door of the ark shall you place in its side, [so that the rain not enter it]. Lower stories [for dung], middle stories [for animals], and third stories [for men] shall you make it.

Behold I am bringing the flood waters on the earth, to destroy all flesh in which there is the breath of life, from under the heavens. Everything that is on the land will perish.

And, behold, I will bring the flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, in which is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is on the earth shall die.

And, behold, I shall bring the deluge [(in concession to the angels' "What is man that You are mindful of him?")], waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh that has in it a spirit of life from under the heavens. All that is on the earth shall perish.

I established My covenant with you. You shall go into the ark, you, your sons, your wife and your son’s wives, with you.

But with thee will I establish My covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.

And I shall establish My covenant with you [(a "covenant" being needed so that the food not decay and so that the wicked ones of the generation not kill him)]. And you shall come to the ark; you and your sons, and your wife and the wives of your sons with you [(men and women separately, cohabitation being forbidden to them in the ark)].

From all living things, from all flesh, two of each shall you bring to the ark, to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female.

And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

And of all that lives [(including demons)], of all flesh, [at least] two [male and female] of all [even of the least numerous] shall you bring to the ark to keep alive with you. Male and female shall they be.

From the birds of their kind, from the animals of their kind, from every creeping thing of the earth of its kind, two of each will come to you to be kept alive.

Of birds after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every sort shall come to thee, to keep them alive.

Of birds [who had mated] according to their kind [and not promiscuously] and of beasts according to their kind, of all the creeping things of the ground, according to their kind — two of all shall come to you to keep alive, [(all coming, the ark admitting only those which had mated with their kind, and Noach taking two of these)].

You shall take for yourself from all [the] foods that are eaten, and gather it to yourself, and it will be food for you and for them.

And take thou to thee of all food that is eaten, and gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.

And you, take for yourself all of the food that is to be eaten, and gather it unto you, and it shall be for you and for them to eat.

Noach did so. All that he was commanded by Elohim, he did.

So Noaĥ did according to all that God commanded him; thus he did.

And Noach did [i.e., built] as all that G-d commanded him; thus did he do.
