Now the children of Yisra᾽el after their number, namely, heads of fathers’ houses and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers who served the king in any matter of the divisions, who came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year; in every division were twenty four thousand.

And the children of Israel, by their number, [(among them)] heads of the fathers' houses and officers of thousands and hundreds, and their supervisors, who ministered before the king for all functions of the divisions, one coming in, the other going out, month by month for all the months of the year — one division, twenty-four thousand (men).

Over the first division for the first month was Yoshov῾am the son of Zavdi᾽el: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

Over the first division, for the first month, Yashavam the son of Zavdiel, and his division, twenty-four thousand.

Of the children of Pereż the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.

[(Yashavam was)] of the sons of Peretz (and he was) the head of all the officers of the host, [(and he was specifically designated)] for the first month.

And over the division of the second month was Doday an Aĥoĥite, and his division, and Miqlot the ruler in his division were twenty four thousand.

And over the division of the second month, Dodai the Achochite, and his division adjutant, Umikloth the leader, and, his division, twenty-four thousand.

The third captain of the host for the third month was Benayahu the son of Yehoyada, a chief priest: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

The third officer of the host for the third month, Benayahu the son of Yehoyada the priest, the head; and his division, twenty-four thousand.

This is that Benayahu, who was the mighty one of the thirty, and over the thirty: and in his division was ῾Ammizavad his son.

He, Benayahu, was the stalwart of the officers. And, over the officers, and his division adjutant, was Amizavad, his son.

The fourth captain for the fourth month was ῾Asa᾽el the brother of Yo᾽av, and Zevadya his son after him: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

The fourth, for the fourth month, Asahel, the brother of Yoav, and Zevadyah his son after him; and his division, twenty-four thousand.

The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhut of Yirzaĥ: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

The fifth, for the fifth month, the chief, Shamhuth the Yizrachite; and his division, twenty-four thousand.

The sixth captain for the sixth month was ῾Ira the son of ῾Iqqesh the Teqo῾ite: and in his division, were twenty four thousand.

The sixth, for the sixth month, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite; and his division, twenty-four thousand.

The seventh captain for the seventh month was Ḥeleż the Pelonite, of the children of Efrayim: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

The seventh, for the seventh month, Cheletz the Plonite of the sons of Ephraim; and his division, twenty-four thousand.

The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbekhay the Ḥushatite, of the Zarĥi: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

The ninth captain for the ninth month was Avi῾ezer the ῾Antotite, of the Benyemini: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

The ninth, for the ninth month, Aviezer the Anthothite of the Benjamites, and his division, twenty-four thousand.

The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharay the Netofatite, of the Zarĥi: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

The tenth, for the tenth month, Maharai the Netofathite of the Zarchites; and his division, twenty-four thousand.

The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaya the Pir῾atonite, of the children of Efrayim: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

The eleventh, for the eleventh month, Benayah the Pirathonite of the sons of Ephraim, and his division, twenty-four thousand.

The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Ḥelday the Netofatite, of ῾Otniel: and in his division were twenty four thousand.

The twelfth, for the twelfth month, Cheldai the Netofathite of [(the sons of)] Othniel; and his division, twenty-four thousand.

Furthermore over the tribes of Yisra᾽el: the ruler of the Re᾽uveni was Eli῾ezer the son of Zikhri: of the Shim῾oni, Shefatyahu the son of Ma῾akha:

And over the tribes of Israel: of the Reuvenites, the leader, Eliezer the son of Zichri; of the Shimonites, Shefatyahu the son of Ma'achah;

of the Levites, Ḥashavya the son of Qemu᾽el: of the sons of Aharon, Żadoq:

of the Levites, Chashavyah the son of Kemuel; of Aaron. Tzaddok;

of Yehuda, Elihu, one of the brothers of David: of Yissakhar, ῾Omri the son of Mikha᾽el:

of Judah, Elihu of the brothers of David; of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael;

of Zevulun, Yishma῾yahu the son of ῾Ovadyahu: of Naftali, Yerimot the son of ῾Azri᾽el:

of Zevulun, Yishmayahu the son of Ovadyahu; of Naftali, Yerimoth the son of Azriel;

of the children of Efrayim, Hoshea the son of ῾Azazyahu: of the half tribe of Menashshe, Yo᾽el the son of Pedayahu:

of the sons of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azazyahu; of the half-tribe of Menasheh, Yoel the son of Pedayahu;

of the half tribe of Menashshe in Gil῾ad, Yiddo the son of Zekharyahu: of Binyamin, Ya῾asi᾽el the son of Avner:

of the half (tribe) of Menasheh in Gilead, Yiddo the son of Zecharyahu; of Benjamin, Ya'asiel the son of Avner;

of Dan, ῾Azar᾽el the son of Yeroĥam. These were the princes of the tribes of Yisra᾽el.

of Dan, Azarel the son of Yerocham. These are the officers of the tribes of Israel.

But David did not take the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the Lord had said he would increase Yisra᾽el like the stars of the heavens.

And David did not count their number from twenty years and below, for the L-rd had spoken to multiply Israel like the stars of the heavens [(which cannot be counted)].

Yo᾽av the son of Żeruya began to count, but he did not finish, because there fell wrath for it against Yisra᾽el; nor was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.

Yoav the son of Tzeruyah began to count, but he did not finish. And there was, because of this, wrath over Israel. And the number [(that he counted)] did not amount to the number in the chronicles of King David.

And over the king’s treasures was ῾Azmavet the son of ῾Adi᾽el: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers, was Yehonatan the son of ῾Uzziyyahu:

And over the treasuries of the king, Azmaveth the son of Adiel. And over the stores in the field, in the cities, in the villages and in the towers, Yehonathan the son of Uziyahu.

and over those who did the work of the field for the tillage of the ground was ῾Ezri the son of Keluv:

And over the field workers for the work of the soil, Ezri the son of K'luv.

and over the vineyards was Shim῾i the Ramatite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zavdi the Shifmite:

And over the vineyards, Shim'i the Ramathite. And over the vineyards for the wine stores, Zavdi the Shifmite.

and over the olive trees and the sycamore trees that were in the low plains was Ba῾al-ĥanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was Yo᾽ash:

And over the olive trees and the sycamore trees in the lowland, Ba'al Chagan the Gederite. And over the oil stores, Yoash.

and over the herds which fed in the Sharon was Shirtay the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shafat the son of ῾Adlay:

And over the cattle grazing in Sharon, Shitrai the Sharonite. And over the cattle in the valleys, Shafat the son of Adlai.

and over the camels was Ovile the Yishme῾elite: and over the asses was Yeĥdeyahu the Meronotite:

And over the camels, Ovil the Ishmaelite. And over the she-asses, Yechdahu the Meronothite.

and over the flocks was Yaziz the Hagrite. All these were the stewards of the property which belonged to king David.

And over the flocks, Yaziz the Hagarite. All these, the property officers of King David.

And Yehonatan David’s uncle was a counsellor, a wise man, and a scribe: and Yeĥi᾽el the son of Ḥakhmoni was with the king’s sons:

And Jonathan, David's uncle, counselor, a man of understanding and a scribe. And Yechiel the son of Chachmoni, with the sons of the king [(to teach them)].

and Aĥitofel was the king’s counsellor: and Ḥushay the Arkite was the king’s companion:

And Achitofel, counselor to the king. And Chushai the Arkite, the king's companion.

and after Aĥitofel came Yehoyada the son of Benayahu, and Evyatar: and the general of the king’s army was Yo᾽av.

And after [(the death of)] Achitofel, Yehoyada the son of Benayahu and Evyathar. And the king's commander in chief, Yoav.
