Then all the people of Yehuda took ῾Uzziyyahu, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amażyahu.
And all the people of Judah took Uzziyahu when he was sixteen years old, and they made him king in place of his father Amatzyahu.
ה֚וּא בָּנָ֣ה אֶת־אֵיל֔וֹת וַיְשִׁיבֶ֖הָ לִֽיהוּדָ֑ה אַחֲרֵ֥י שְׁכַֽב־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עִם־אֲבֹתָֽיו׃{פ}
He built Elot, and restored it to Yehuda, after the king slept with his fathers.
He built up Eiloth and restored it to Judah after the king rested with his fathers.
Sixteen years old was ῾Uzziyyahu when he began to reign, and he reigned for fifty two years in Yerushalayim. And his mother’s name was Yekholya of Yerushalayim.
Uzziyahu was sixteen years old when he [began] to reign, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Yechalyah of Jerusalem.
And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amażyahu had done.
And he did what was just in the eyes of the L rd, as all that Amatzyahu his father had done.
And he sought God in the days of Zekharyahu, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.
And it was [usual] for one who understood the visions of G d to seek out G d in the days of Zecharyahu [(Uzziyahu)]. And in the days when he [(Uzziyahu)] sought out the L rd, G d prospered him.
And he went forth and warred against the Pelishtim, and broke down the wall of Gat, and the wall of Yavne, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Pelishtim.
And he went out and warred against the Philistines. And he breached the wall of Gath and the wall of Yavneh and the wall of Ashdod. And he built cities in Ashdod and among the Philistines.
And God helped him against the Pelishtim, and against the ῾Arvim who dwelt in Gur-ba῾al, and the Me῾unim.
And G d helped him against the Philistines and against the Arabs dwelling in Gur-ba'al, and [against] the Meunites [(the Ammonites)].
And the ῾Ammonim rendered tribute to ῾Uzziyyahu, and his name spread abroad to the entrance of Miżrayim; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.
And the Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziyahu and his name went forth until Levo-Mitzrayim, for he had become extremely strong.
Moreover ῾Uzziyyahu built towers in Yerushalayim, at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the angle of the wall, and fortified them.
And Uzziyahu built towers in Jerusalem: at the Corner Gate and at the Valley Gate, and at the corners; and he strengthened them.
וַיִּ֨בֶן מִגְדָּלִ֜ים בַּמִּדְבָּ֗ר וַיַּחְצֹב֙ בֹּר֣וֹת רַבִּ֔ים כִּ֤י מִקְנֶה־רַּב֙ הָ֣יָה ל֔וֹ וּבַשְּׁפֵלָ֖ה וּבַמִּישׁ֑וֹר אִכָּרִ֣ים וְכֹרְמִ֗ים בֶּהָרִים֙ וּבַכַּרְמֶ֔ל כִּי־אֹהֵ֥ב אֲדָמָ֖ה הָיָֽה׃{ס}
And he built towers in the desert, and dug many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the lowland, and in the plains: he had farmers, and vinedressers in the mountains, and in the Karmel: for he loved the soil.
And he built towers in the desert, and he hewed out many wells, for he had much cattle, (some) in the lowlands and (some) in the plains. (And he had) farmers and vinedressers on the mountains and in the carmel [(fertile land)], for he was a lover of the soil.
Moreover ῾Uzziyyahu had a host of fighting men, who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Ye῾i᾽el the scribe and Ma῾aseyahu the ruler, under the hand of Ḥananyahu, one of the king’s captains.
And Uzziyahu had an army of warriors, going out in the host by troops, according to the number of their count by the hand of Yeiel the scribe and Ma'aseyahu the officer, supervised by Chananyahu, (one) of the king's officers.
The whole number of the heads of the fathers’ houses of the mighty men at arms was two thousand six hundred.
The entire number of the heads of the fathers' [houses] of the warriors, two thousand and six hundred.
And under their hand was an army, three hundred and seven thousand five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
And under them, the army of the host, three hundred and seven thousand and five hundred, waging war in an armed force to help the king against the foe.
And ῾Uzziyyahu prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.
And Uzziyahu equipped the entire host with shields, spears, helmets, coats of mail, bows and slingstones.
And in Yerushalayim he made engines, invented by skilful men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
And he made in Jerusalem skillfully crafted engines to be (placed) on the towers and at the corners for the shooting of arrows and for (the flinging of) large stones. And his name traveled far and wide, for he wrought wondrously in abetting himself until he achieved power.
But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
But when he grew strong, his heart grew proud to (the point of) corruption. And he was faithless to the L rd his G d, and he came into the sanctuary of the L rd to burn (incense) on the incense altar.
And ῾Azaryahu the priest went in after him and with him eighty priests of the Lord, who were men of valour:
And there came after him Azaryahu the priest and with him priests of the L rd, eighty strong.
and they withstood ῾Uzziyyahu the king, and said to him, It is not for thee, ῾Uzziyyahu, to burn incense to the Lord, but for the priests the sons of Aharon, who are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; for it shall not be for thy honour from the Lord God.
And they stood over Uzziyahu the king, and they said to him: It is not for you, Uzziyahu, to burn incense to the L rd, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated for the burning (of incense). Leave the sanctuary, for you have been faithless. Not for you is glory from the L rd G d!
Then ῾Uzziyyahu was angry, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was angry with the priests, the żara῾at broke out on his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, beside the incense altar.
And Uzziyah fumed, and in his hand was the incense censer, and in his fuming against the priests, leprosy sprouted on his forehead before the priests in the house of the L rd over the incense altar.
And ῾Azaryahu the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was diseased in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from there; and he himself hastened to go out, because the Lord had smitten him.
And Azaryahu the high-priest and all the priests, turned to him, and behold, his forehead was leprous, and they rushed him from there, and he, too, rushed to leave, for the L rd had stricken him.
And ῾Uzziyyahu the king was afflicted with żara῾at to the day of his death, and dwelt in the house of separation, being diseased; for he was cut off from the house of the Lord: and Yotam his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
And King Uzziyahu was a leper until the day of his death, and he sat in "the house of the free" [(i.e., in a house in the cemetery)], for he had been cut off from the house of the L rd, and Yotham, the son of the king, was (appointed) over the house of the king (and) judged the people of the land.
Now the rest of the acts of ῾Uzziyyahu, first and last, did Yesha῾yahu the prophet, the son of Amoż, write.
And the rest of the events of (the reign of) Uzziyahu, the earlier and the later, were recorded by Isaiah the son of Amotz the prophet.
וַיִּשְׁכַּ֨ב עֻזִּיָּ֜הוּ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֗יו וַיִּקְבְּר֨וּ אֹת֤וֹ עִם־אֲבֹתָיו֙ בִּשְׂדֵ֤ה הַקְּבוּרָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לַמְּלָכִ֔ים כִּ֥י אָמְר֖וּ מְצוֹרָ֣ע ה֑וּא וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ יוֹתָ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃{פ}
So ῾Uzziyyahu slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is diseased: and Yotam his son reigned in his stead.
And Uzziyahu rested with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the burial fields of the kings, saying: "He is a leper." And Yotham his son reigned in his place.
