The Koren Jerusalem Bible

And Yeĥizqiyyahu sent to all Yisra᾽el and Yehuda, and wrote letters also to Efrayim and Menashshe, that they should come to the house of the Lord at Yerushalayim, to keep the passover to the Lord God of Yisra᾽el.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And Yechizkiyahu sent to all of Israel and Judah, and he also wrote letters to Ephraim and Menasheh to come to the house of the L rd in Jerusalem to perform the Pesach (sacrifice) to the L rd, the G d of Israel.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Yerushalayim, to keep the passover in the second month.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And the king and his officers and all the congregation took counsel in Jerusalem to perform the Pesach in the second month.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

For they could not keep it in its time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently, nor had the people gathered themselves together to Yerushalayim.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

For they could not perform it at that time [(in the first month, Nissan, as prescribed)], for a sufficient number of priests had not (yet) cleansed themselves, and [all] the people had not yet gathered in Jerusalem.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

And the thing pleased the king and all the congregation.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And the thing was just in the eyes of the king and in the eyes of all the congregation.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Yisra᾽el, from Be᾽er-sheva as far as Dan, that they should come to keep the passover to the Lord God of Yisra᾽el at Yerushalayim: for they had not done it for long as it was written.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And they resolved that it be proclaimed in all of Israel, from Beersheva until Dan, to come to perform the Pesach to the L rd, the G d of Israel, in Jerusalem, because for many (years) they had not performed it as prescribed.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

So the runners went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Yisra᾽el and Yehuda, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, You children of Yisra᾽el, turn back to the Lord God of Avraham, Yiżĥaq, and Yisra᾽el, and he will turn again to the remnant of you, who have escaped out of the hand of the kings of Ashshur.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And the runners went with letters from the hand of the king and his officers throughout all of Israel and Judah, saying, by command of the king: Children of Israel, return to the L rd, the G d of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and He will return to the remnant left of you from the hand of the kings of Ashur.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

And be not like your fathers, and like your brethren, who trespassed against the Lord God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as you see.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And do not be like your fathers and like your brothers, who were faithless to the L rd, the G d of their fathers, who condemned them to desolation, as you (now) see.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

Now be not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the Lord, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified for ever: and worship the Lord your God, so that the fierceness of his anger may turn away from you.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

Now, do not stiffen your necks as your fathers (did). Cast your lot with the L rd, and come to His sanctuary which He has consecrated forever, and serve the L rd your G d, and He will remove His wrath from you.

כִּ֣י בְשׁוּבְכֶ֞ם עַל־יְהֹוָ֗ה אֲחֵיכֶ֨ם וּבְנֵיכֶ֤ם לְרַֽחֲמִים֙ לִפְנֵ֣י שֽׁוֹבֵיהֶ֔ם וְלָשׁ֖וּב לָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֑את כִּֽי־חַנּ֤וּן וְרַחוּם֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם וְלֹֽא־יָסִ֤יר פָּנִים֙ מִכֶּ֔ם אִם־תָּשׁ֖וּבוּ אֵלָֽיו׃{ס}

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

For if you return to the Lord, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before those who led them away captive, so that they shall come back into this land: for the Lord your God is gracious, and merciful, and he will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

For when you return to the L rd, your brothers and your sons [in exile] will [find] mercy in the eyes of their captors, and [they will be permitted] to return to this land. For gracious and merciful is the L rd your G d, and He will not turn His face from you if you return to Him.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

And the runners passed from city to city in the land of Ephraim and Menasheh until Zevulun, but they laughed at them and mocked them.

Nevertheless certain men of Asher and Menashshe and of Zevulun humbled themselves, and came to Yerushalayim.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

The hand of God was also upon Yehuda to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the Lord.

The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein

In Judah, too, was the hand of G d to give them one heart to do the command of the king and of the officers by word of the L rd.

For many in the congregation had not cleansed themselves, wherefore the Levites slaughtered the Pesach [(sacrifices)] for all who were not clean for consecration [of the Pesach] to the L rd.
